i just purchased two budgies last Wednesday(im new to owning budgies) and is it ok it put this into the cage?http://pet.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pPETS-3757112t400.jpg a bird protector since I've noticed they scratch a lot and lots of feathers are at the bottom of the cage.they groom each other constantly plus my mom would Kill me if they get mites or lice. thanks for reading!:D

I've heard that those things actually are dangerous. I could be wrong, though.

i have also heard those things arent good for birds. but i havent really looked it up.

I wouldn't put the mite protectors in their cage either. I've heard it can cause budgies health problems and that it does more harm to them than good.

The bird protector contains an insecticide (poison) to kill the mites and lice. Since it is meant to be placed in the cage with the bird, the bird will constantly be exposed to this poison. As a result, the bird could slowly be poisoned over time and eventually die. :(
We don't get these bird protectors in Australia, but I've read enough about them to never want to see one!

Budgies drop tiny feathers constantly. Mine lose fistfuls every day. That doesn't mean they have mites. They shouldn't get mites if they live indoors, and the mite protector could make them sick.
