Both are carrying recessive pied and grey factor genes. Willow is carrying opaline.
Six eggs have been layed.
Possable out comes for the chicks are
white face
yellow face type 2
mauve
cobalt
opaline
normal
recessive pied
If you would like you can guess the possible colors of the chicks and as soon as I know that color mutations we will see if you are correct.

The first egg hatched today. Sadly the baby died shortly after hatching. It still had some egg shell attached to its back. I'm afraid it was just to weak to make it. Cross your fingers for the next one. The next chick should hatch in a couple days. Hopefully the next one makes it.

As i mentioned at length in my previous posts, you cannot get a mauve from a sky blue parent. Neither bird is carrying grey, unless you mean they each carry a single greywing gene, which i dont recall mentioning in my last post either.
If the cock is split for opaline you will get some opalines, if he is not you will not get opalines.
This pairing is good for one thing however, i will finally be able to figure out the colour of storm. If she is mauve, all chicks will be cobalt. If she is sky blue with a weird colour adding gene (slate or violet perhaps), then all the chicks will be sky blue. If she is a cobalt, then there will be 50% sky blue and 50% cobalt chicks. You will get YF2s and normal white faces yes. If you get any recessive pieds then certainly both parents would have to be split for it.
Good luck with the eggs.

I have no idea about mutations but I did want to say those photos are gorgeous! :)
I am sorry to hear about the little baby. I think that is one aspect of breeding that I just couldn't handle. :( I am hopeful that everything is okay with the remaining eggs. Definitely keep us updated. ;)

Willow decided to eat two of the eggs. One last night and one this morning. I looked inside and they where both fertile. Now Storm will not sit on the eggs. I don't think the other three eggs are going to make it. So much for the chicks. The only reason I can think of why Willow would have eaten the eggs is that they had died in the egg. We did have rain for a month that threw the birds into breeding condition, maybe all the moisture also killed the chicks as well. What do you guys think. Why do birds eat their eggs?

Well that stinks :(

Generally they eat them if they are undernourished, out of breeding condition, under stress, get a fright or if they have had previous egg eating problems.

Willow pecked a hole in the last two eggs tonight. I looked in both eggs, one was empty with some blood residue. The other egg had a fully developed chick still inside. This baby would have hatched in a couple of days :( I think the birds came out of breeding condition. They haven't been stressed and they have the best diet that I know of. Better luck next time I guess.

Something is definately wrong and yes you should remove them from breeding.

Hi ,,Grey is a dominate colour so your budgies do not carry hidden grey.
you say your cock is / opaline and your hen is opaline the young
will be as follows,,,cock young opaline or normal/opaline and all
your young hens will be opaline or normal,,Are you sure your hen
is not a violet sky blue which looks like a cobolt,,If your cock is a
mutant 2 yellow face all young will be yellow face, normaly a mutant
2 yellow faces body has yellow traces as well ..
