What do you guys prefer to feed your budgies? Pellets or seed? I have some of my flock on pellets and some on seed........

I feed my budgies a mix of pellets and seed. I also include fresh veggies and some fruit. Even though they always have a constant supply of seed, sometimes they actually choose to eat the pellets, which is really great! Way to go sweetiekins! :p

A mix is the best diet. All seed is unhealthy and all pellets is unhealthy (despite what the packet may say. :) Obviously it's also necessary to offer fresh foods (veggies, beans, etc) as well, variety is the key. ;)

Well I don't even know what pellets are!

So I just feed seed/millet/veggies/egg-food/bread and occasional treats of honey sticks or seed bells.

you should keep millet as an occasional treat too, it's super high in fat and it's already the main ingredient in seed mixes anyway. Bread is another thing that should be kept as a treat.

I do! I just put it in the wrong place, Billy and Lily hardly ever have bread and they have a millet spray once every fortnight.

I do a variety of foods with all my birds...... I was just wondering how many on here actually do feed pellets. The pet shop introduces pellets by soaking them and mixing seed in with them..... my two new budgies are enjoying that now and I will gradually stop soaking.....I also make a birdie bread that all my babies look forward to eating.

I've never seen pellets before. What do they look like?

Well for budgies you can get crumbles and they look a bit like bread crumbles i guess..

I now have a diet of 2/3 seed and 1/3 eggfood all mixed in together. Eggfood looks a bit like pellets.

I feed Kiki just pellets at the moment because if I were to feed both she would only eat the seed. I am hoping that she will start to love the pellets and be able to eat the two together. I think pellets look kind of like Trix cereal, only in little bits ;)
