We're a great community, and there's no doubt this is what attracts a lot of people here. However, there is an aspect of this website that is lacking. And that is non-forum content. Right now, I'm looking to expand the Budgie FAQ to provide answers to all the most commonly asked questions.

How can I help?

- Provide questions and answers to questions you see posted a lot.
- If you created a sticky thread, go through it and create FAQs based on facts within it.
- Make sure the information you're providing is accurate.
- Make sure spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. are all correct.

How do I send my FAQ?

You can send the FAQ to me through PM or you can post them here.

Why should I create some FAQ?

Expanding our FAQ database will mean more content for visitors to read, which means more traffic and members. This is vital to expanding our community and helping more budgie owners! In order to remain the best budgie forum out there, we need to provide new and up-to-date information for our members and visitors. This means expanding our website outside of the forums. The gallery is one step in that direction. The FAQ will help out even more.

What do I get out it?

If you contribute, you'll receive 25 Karma points for each accepted FAQ you submit. That can build up quickly! Not to mention the more knowledgable and positive role models are often considered for future staff positions. I'm considering also creating a usergroup for those who contribute FAQ, with a nice new pair of wings.

As usual, if you have any questions, let me know!

will this be like a Budgie Tool Kit that you can click that will have a lot of useful and basic answers or techniques that deal with budgies and maybe birds in general?

Hmm, sounds like a good idea.

I just of one right now:

Q: My budgie has scaly face mites, what do I do.
A: Scaly face mites are mites that burrow into the skin, and cause scaly or crusty areas, mostly around the beak and cere, and sometimes on the feet. There are a few ways to treat it. One way is by using Ivermectin, which can be found at a veteranarian, or you can buy it online. They usually come in drops that you can put on the affected areas. Another way to treat it is by using Vaseline. You out a little bit on a cotton swab, and dab it on the affected areas. If there are mites by the cere, and you are using Vaseline, you have to be careful not to get it in the nostrils, or else your bird could suffocate. Never use `Cage Protectors`which are commonly found in pet stores. They are useless, and could be toxic.

If anyone can elaborate on it, feel free, that`s all I could think of right now:rolleyes:

Here's an ickle one, might be kinda silly but oh well:

Q: One of my budgie has a blue tongue but all the others have a brighter coloured one. Is my bird sick?
A: No, your bird is not sick at all. The colour of a budgie's tongue depends on their colour mutation, and can range from pink to blue to grey. Also, a budgie's tongue will usually match their legs in colour due to the colour mutation.

I'll think of more, don't you worry :D

I'll do one tonight :) Maybe on Chlamydia psittaci, as I never knew about until I experienced it firsthand. It's apparently very common but it's deadly!
