Hi,
Desi, one of the 4 budgie's at my house, is a small, blue, quiet fellow. One day, a couple of months ago, I was sitting quietly near the budgies big cage, and heard a 'ting ting ting' sound...like something on metal. Hm. Wasn't a usual house sound. I looked around, then went back to my book. Then I heard it again...'ting ting ting'. I looked at the cage. Three of the budgies were sleeping, and Desi was sitting close to a seed dish. I just sat and watched. He leaned over to the cage bars and tapped them with his beak...'ting ting ting'. I smiled, and kept watching. He moved over a few inches and tapped again. Hm...a different tone. He flew across the cage, sat by the bars, and tapped again...moved a few inches and 'ting ting ting' again. I just watched, smiling. Desi is quiet, not a strong flyer, but a very sweet and gentle boy. He's named after Desi Arnaz. Maybe he is more well-named than I realized, because it seems he is a musician. He plays 'the bars' quite a lot now. A few days ago I heard a louder 'PING PING' sound...went over to watch him, and discovered he had started plucking at the bars with his li'l hooked bill, in addition to tapping them. I had a very small wind chime, so I hung it in the corner of the budgies cage. Now I hear and see Desi tapping softly at the chimes...he seems to love them. I wonder if he's writing music. Does anyone else here have experience with a budgie musician? Leigh in Minnesota
