Hi! My name is Debbie and I have just recently purchased a sweet hand-tamed budgie, named Kaytee. :budgie: While I'm not new to the bird world, I have had a hand-tamed budgie in quite a while. I do have five male budgies in an aviary that I love to pieces but I don't get them out to hold.
I also have an african grey, a female ekkie, a sun conure, a blue quaker, a sun conure, two lovebirds, two parrotlets, a hahns macaw, a meyers and a canary. My house is full of life!!! My husband works second shift so these babies keep me company in the evenings and I enjoy them very very much...
I look forward to reading posts and getting to know everyone here!!!
have a great one!!!

Well I went back to the pet store and bought Kaytee a buddy..... I felt she needed one. Her name is Annie. I will try to get pics on here as soon as I can!!!
You'll have to quarantine her for 30 days in a different cage first, sorry!!

She came from the same clutch.... I just got Kaytee Saturday and then got Annie yesterday.... same store, same babies......
Ok then, but don't blame us if they both get ill! Jk!

Hi, Debbie. Welcome to the "club." Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.
I envy you your Blue Quaker. I'd really love to have a Blue or a Lutino but don't really have the space. I have a pair of breeding Normal Quakers, outside, and a tame one inside. At one time I had 35 Quakers but the noise became just too much for us. (I also have about 29 keets and 2 cockatiels. All in outside aviaries.)
We have a feeder in the back yard and it is not uncommon to see 20 or 30 wild Quakers eating there. Not to mention there were 29 Cherry Headed Conures there one morning. I almost had a heart attack, I was so excited.
Welcome, again.

Well I feel very safe in having them together since it was only a couple of days that they were apart and they were from the same store, etc.....I wouldn't "blame" anyone if anything happened. I've dealt with birds for several years and feel pretty confident in the way I take care of them....

"I envy you your Blue Quaker."
My blue quaker's name is Archie. He is the sweetest, most gentle bird I have!!! I think he is quite handsome......
I can't imagine having so many quakers and conures in your backyard!!!! I envy YOU on that one!!!

I'm glad you like birds!
I'm really glad to see someone of your age so involved with your budgies and with this forum. It's a great way to meet new people and to absorb a lot of knowledge about your birds. Your birds are very lucky to have you as their caregiver!!

Does any of your parrots talk...just curious...and do they all get along with eachother?

Both of my greys talk up a storm. My eclectus is a "closet talker".......so far she only talks at night when she is in her cage!!! My red belly talks and my sun conure, hahns, and quaker all say just a few words........ I LOVE hearing them!!!!

Oh yeah...... all my birds in the bird room get along famously.... when they come in the livingroom with the bigger birds....sometimes there are little fusses but never anything major...... I am extremely blessed with how they all do get along!!!

My tame female Quaker, YMA (Named for Yma Sumac), is becomming quite a talker. She calls one of our Westies. "Wolfie, Wolfie, WOLFIE!," she'll yell. Then she orders him outside. Also says, "Hello," and "Hello, beautiful," and "Pretty Yma." Plus a few other things she's working on. She has also picked up one of my Granddaughter's squeals!
Yma is so tame and so much fun. She is the only tame bird we have, at present. Also the only one inside. Right now, she's in the other room barking like one of the dogs! :-)
