Hi Guys and Gals, Just to let you all know that when I came home from college at 4.34pm today I found My little Billy dead face down in the cage and his companion Bertie sitting on his perch all quiet. I only have them 1 YEAR and 2 months but they were a few months old when I got them. Billy had peumonia in August and the vet was sure I would loose him by the end of the aug weekend as he had lost so much weight, but I nursed him through it and he put on weight again, ot as much as he was before he got sick. Billy was sick a few times sinnce as he was prone to respitory problems. I brought him to the vet about 4 weeks ago but he was fine again. Billy was a lovely Blue ad White Budgie.
Billy was the tamer of my two budgies and before he got sick in August he would fly over to my bed ad try and eat my dinner or he would peck me on the hand, after that he got quieter and used to just fly over as far the mat beside my bed. He flew out to that last night. He hopped onto my bed on Sunday just gone and hadnt doe that in ages. This mornig he was in good form when I left the house at 6.45pm. I miss him dreadfully my poor little Billy. Am worried that Bertie might die of lonliness. - Daddy Eamonn. I loved you so much Billy xx

Oh sweety! I am so sorry to hear about your precious little guy! I too know what it is like to lose a budgie. I couldn't believe it when my vet called me to tell me that my sweety Apollo did not make it in the recovery room following his exploratory surgery. I cried in disbelief for hours and it took days and days for me to accept that he was gone. I still miss him (and it has been over 2 years) as I am sure you will miss your sweety too.

Just know that you have tons of support here and we understand what you're going through. It is amazing the impact these little guys have on our lives. They bring us so much joy when they are with us and so much pain when they leave.....:(

Aww, im so sorrey to hear this, i know what its like. RIP Billy Also if your worried that your other little guy might to lonely you could always get another freind for him, i mean you'd have to quarrintine the new guy fro like 30 days but they would still hear each other chirping, and after the quarrintine you could pout them in with each other.

Thank you so much Budgiekin you are very good. I keep breaking down all the time in my flat on my own and when i am outside am on the verge of tears. You are so right in what you said about these little guys bringing us so much joy and then so much sadness whe they go to heaven. Billy was my little son whom I loved dearly. He knew how much I loved him and loved me back in the same measure in return even up to his final days and hours with me. My precious little guy did everything to show me how much he loved me before he died. I miss him dreadfully and always will. My Billy was such a special buddy to me, so like me in some of his ways funny and cheeky but in a nice way. Billy was so clever too ad thoughtfull. I will miss that so much. Thank you for your support through this very very difficult time for me. -Daddy Eamonn

Thanks so much XBudgieluvax for your kind sentiments you are very kind. I was talking to Billy's vet on Wednesday at 6pm about getting a companion for Bertie and he recommended that I leave it for 4 - 6 weeks to give Bertie and me time to grieve. I did not know though that I would have to quarentine the new companion for a month. Why do you have to do this? Am new to loosing a Budgie as Billy and Bertie was my first time of being a Daddy to two adoreable birds. -Daddy Eamonn

Its just incase your new budgie has an infection or any other disease that can be passed onto an older budgie and make very ill, the good thing about this is it will give you time to bond with your new budgie xxx

Hi Daddy.....I agree, you should get another little angel for Bertie, and you don't have to wait 4-6 weeks for grieving....if that's what you want to do, then do it!! It's your choice, and you will be helping Bertie and yourself. (just remember to Quantine it) You can still grieve and have another budgie hun...Billy and you both know how much you loved each other. One budgie does not take the place of another one that has gone to the rainbow bridge...we just want another ray of sunshine in our lives to always remember.:) My Coco died and I went out and got my Willy Baby, but I will never forget Coco for they have their own personalities and will always be remembered in different ways. Tearing for you hun.:(

Im so sorry to hear of your loss. Bertie will probably mourn for a bit, but should probably get over it. If Bertie has always had a cagemate, i would get a new playmater for him

Hi Daddy Eamonn,
I was so sad to read about your dear little Billy. I can only empathise with how you are feeling at the moment as I lost my precious little baby Harry over two months ago now, he was six. I wish that someone could explain the impact these special little creatures have on our lives, maybe then we could understand why it hurts so much when they go and leave us. I still cry for Harry, especially at night, today has been a pretty bad day for some reason. I pop onto the forum now and again just to see how everyone is getting on here, but then read of someone's little sweetie being ill or getting hurt and then the tears start all over again. I have lost budgies in the past but can't ever remember it being as bad as this. I wonder if it's because Harry was so very funny, such a mimic and an amazing little character. So I share in your grief for Billy and hope that maybe he has met a very special little friend called Harry and they are both happy together at Rainbow Bridge.
Love, Jan. XXX.

Thank you so much Budgiesmum1953 for your kind sentements. Billy was a real character too He'ls sit on my television while I was in bed lookig at the tv and if I didt ackowledge him he'ld turn his back on me and wouldtnt turn around then when I talked to him the ext miute he'ld chirp away to me. Other times while I lay on my futon with my feet off the covers he'ld fly over to my feet oto my shoe and peck away at it to let me kow he was there. Then he'ld walk up my leg pecking til he got to just above my knee ad then fly back to his cage. I hope he meets Harry. Thank you again for your reassurance. Daddy Eamonn x
