Tweety and Princess

I have read through the sticky threads on the breeding page and ive decided im going to try and breed Tweety and Princess. I am not sure what the male, Tweety, is but Princess is an albino. she is all white with no hint of other colorings. They have already started checking out their nest box. Princess has started to kick out some of the pine shavings and make it how she wants it. they are inseparable. Princess mainly eats from Tweety only now.

are you sure princess is an alino, her eyes dont look red in the pics, she may be another variation that results in no markings

she still has the red eye. its hard to get it in many of her pictures because of how the lighting is. i am also putting up another pair to breed. Kiwi is the female. im not sure if she is a greywing or a YF2. Bebe i think is a clearflight? i am new to finding out what mutations they are so if that is wrong please correct me. they were just added in the cage with the nest box today. Princess has been going more into the nest box. Tweety wont let her leave it

Kiwi is a YF2 Opaline Cinnamon I think, and Bebe a Dominant Pied.

Princess is in her nest box for most of the day now but still nothing has happened. Bebe and Kiwi have both been in theirs. the bedding is mainly out of the nest box now. but nothing yet on either one

princess has layed her first egg today! ive been spending the week at my dads and so i went in to check on all 4 and they had an egg today. so my mom will be expecting to see me wed and friday also :p kiwi and bebe are still going in and out of their nest box.

No real need to mark the eggs unless you are show breeding, and even then its really not necessary.

yay lol i have a albino budige and im not good at nowing there type lol. I love albinos and mine loves me. I wanna see the babys so i know what mine may look like =-) he is finally coming around the age 2 breed :budgie:

well she hasnt laid the 4th egg yet. you can for sure tell that shes about to. but shes laid all the other ones around 4 in the evening and its 7. so i dont want to get worried too soon. :( now when she laid all the other ones my lovebird and cockatiel werent in the room and now they are so i dont know if it will help to get them moved out of there. i will be doing that as soon as i get finished with this post. she is still laying on the 3 other eggs though. wish her luck! thanks!

ok that is what im going to do right now. i have also another breeding pair in there that are going in and out of the nest box. i figured they should have eggs in about 2 weeks. thats how long it took for tweety and princess for their first when i put the box up. so should i move them too? or are they fine? they have been in there the whole time so far.

u can leave the parakeets in there cuz that may disturb that pair. If u first pair seems to be doing well i would leave them in there so leave all the parakeets and remove the others

i just removed Mojo and Skittles. so it is dead quiet in there except for a little fan because it gets hot. so ill go up and check in a little bit. i dont want to disturb her too much. but tweety is in the opposite side of the cage. he usually is right next to her. :S so i hope everything passes now. thanks so much

i am more than excited. and i went to the pet store that i got princess from (shes the only albino they got before) and shes excited too and said she'll take any i cant keep. but i doubt thatll happen. im going for a run ill check when i get home.

she may be egg bound. U can try rubbing oil on her butto to see if it comes out and make sure she is eatting her cuttle bone to form the shell.

well today i moved my light next to the nest box because it gives off heat. well i then went outside to jog and i come back and theres the 4th! so idk if i should move the light. im keeping the other birds out and keeping the humidifier running. she is eating her cuttle bone. so i hope she is ok! :D:D

my room feels like a sauna now :p the other pair are enjoying the heat also :D so i hope i have no more complications. i was so worried :eek: so all is well! hopefully she lays a few more but im happy with 4. at the end of the week ill probably candle the older eggs. :D:D

Hens dont always lay 2 days apart. They can often take a third day to form an egg, usually this occurs when laying the last egg or near to. I wouldnt be worried at all about the delay and you dont want the humidity in the room to be too high as this could cause the embryos to drown - egg shells are porous and are designed to lose a little bit of fluid volume as the chick grows. Too dry and the egg dries out, too moist and the egg takes on water and the embryo drowns.

Im not sure of specific levels of humidity that are safe, but while you should be fine I would avoid over-heating or humidifying anything.

I agree with Dean. The hen knows how long she can leave the eggs before they get to cold. and will go back to them before that happens. You don't want to keep it to hot. And you don't want to much light in the nest either since budgies nest in the dark. Your hen could reject the eggs if there is to much of anything out of the normal range.
I can't wait for you to candle the eggs and to hear if you have fertile ones.

she wont leave the nest easily when i take a peek so i only look in when shes out and thats not often at all. she is so cute laying in there.

and no i dont know what mutations they will be. i tried looking that up but i couldnt find anything. so hopefully i can get some albino out of them. im not too sure how to candle the eggs. after i get back from eating with my bf ill candle them. ill look up how right now

great news! i candled all the eggs and i could see little vessels throughout the eggs! fertile! they are on their way! princess was not happy with me doing that :p im so excited! :D:D

they should start hatching on the 30th of june. one should be born on the 4th of july and id love to name it like firecracker or something along those lines :p

These birds are amazing please keep us updated. I would love to see the babies when they are born. I have a pair of budgies breeding also and it is just an amazing feeling. She only has 5 right now but idk how to check if they are fertil. Mine should be born around The 3rd till like the 10th of July and i love your idea about the name firecracker since it is going to be born on the forth.:D
