Budgies Eyes

I've been browsing a lot of pictures and video's and I have noticed that some budgies eyes are like full black, and other budgie's eyes have a white ring on the outer eyeball. Does it have to do with the age of a bird?:S I really don't know the answer to this....and was just wondering.:budgie: Would like to know these things.....thank you for any help.:)

yes it has to do with the age. the older the bird the more white.

Some birds will never develop a ring, recessive pieds for example, but for others it is an indication of age.

In most budgies as they age their iris ring gets lighter. I have two budgies that's iris ring stayed black. I think that is because they are recessive pied. I think that's what I read. Young budgies and recessive pieds have dark iris rings making their eyes look full and black. Hope that helps.

The completely black eyes are budgies under 4 months :)

My budgies iris are medium, almost greyish and is a very thin lining which leads to me to because they are at least 5 months old.

I know that their iris's light up and become thicker when they are excited and I have witnessed this a few times with my budgies :)

Has anyone ever seen an eyelash on their Budgie? I have seen a couple on my newest Baby Budgie, that just got out of quarantine. He has the prettiest eyes anyway, but those lashes are just sooooooo cute!!!!
