Argh I hadnt even given her a name :( I was playing with her last night and she was fine. I had her for 2-3wks. Her food and water dishes were full. I dont acctually know how old she was...so maybe she was OLD! I feel bad for her :( Its really a mystery as to why she died though. Maybe you guys have some suggestions? Anyways I might go to petland tommorrow and get a new budgie. Unless of course I have some 'budgie killing air' in my house. My mom seen her running around in her cage this morning as well.

I'm guessing she's been sick since you got her. Budgies hide their illnesses as a sick budgie in the wild will be killed first by predators. Did you notice her losing weight or looking lethargic at all?

I'm really sorry for you loss. :( It's terrible losing a budgie. (((((hugs))))

Oh no! How terrible, I know how you feel, I've lost 3 budgies in the past.

I hope when, and if you get your new budgie she/he will bring happiness into your life and will fill up that gap in your heart.:)

Acctually she wasnt loosing wieght or anything, but she sure was fluffling her feathers more than usual. Could she have maybe stressed herself out so bad she died. Anyways thank you guys :) She was just beggining to be nicer too. Oooh well what can I do. Im going to go buy a new budgie now :)

so sorry for your loss :(

Bea was right, it very well could have been sick before you even got her. You may already know all of this stuff, but just incase I'll tell you a couple of things that can cause sudden death of birds... being near drafts, eating avacado, ingestion of corn cob cage litter (this can take years to kill the bird, so even if you didn't use it, someone along her life may have), if she is too close to the kitchen when your cooking (teflon emits some sort of dangerous thing into the air that kills birds... and teflon is in almost everything in the kitchen, burners, toasters, cooking pans etc...), using too strong of a cleaner on their cage (I use a mild dish soap watered down and rinse like my life depends on it haha).

Those are just a couple of things to watch out for next time around, if you didn't already know them :) if you did, sorry for bugging you with this lol.

enjoy your new budgie!

oh! and just incase... be sure to clean everything the other budgie touched very well before giveing it to the new one.

Talk to you soon I hope!

I just had a thought, is your cage new or second hand? Is there any rust on it? Is there any metals in the cage that could contain lead or zinc? Rust, lead and zinc are all extremely toxic to budgies.

Amy

Yes so if you ever buy anything metal for your budgies ie, a peice of metal to make a toy, make sure it doesn't contain one of those metals.

My cage is second hand. I bought it for my mom for mothers day last year I think. She had two lovebirds in it. Anyways the cage seems to be in good condition, nothing metal in it. And the bars are coated in paint.

my friends budgie flew away and never came back. the other budgie(lily) was heartbroken. when Olivia(my friend) bought a new budgie named Leo for lilys company:badidea: , lily was so depressed that she killed the budgie by not letting it have food or water. :nono: (sorry this is kinda :ot:.
