Ok ... so this is the deal. I just got tootsie yesterday evening and i brought her out the cage for a while.... then put her back to sleep. last night, she stepped onto my finger and all and she seemed fine when i broguht her out. this morning i was cleaning her cage so i took her out. she ran way from my finger all the time!
Anyway ... once i got her, i put her on my bed and she flew onto the floor and managed to get behind my desk (of all places!!!) it was a chore to get her back again but with the help of a small hand towel, it kinda disguised my hand so she stood on it.
She was fine yesterday but she seemed to hate me this morning ... :S At the moment im not using any millet or treats for her cause shes only 4-5 weeks old. oh and one more thing!!! she seems to know her seed bowl but i have yet seen her drink! (unless it's been when i was asleep). Will they naturally know what's where or do i have to splash some at her to let her know? HELP!!!!

It will take time before she begins to bond with you more. Millet might help, I don't think you have to worry about age for millet, if they can eat normal seed I don't see why they can't have millet every now and then. For the drinking, I've had Drake 10 days now and I have yet to see him drink, but I know he does. Budgies tend to drink when no one is around, if she is eating ok she is most likely drinking too.:)

Totally agree with Julie, just have to give this little angel time she will be eating out of your hand in no time....but still very young. As for the drinking, they do drink when your not looking, as Julie stated, but they can also go a very long time without water...but eat constantly. You'll never have to point the way to water or food...they will always find it as they are way to inquisitive not to.:)

It's funny how Budgies can act so different when you first bring them home. I found out very quickly that it's because they are too scared to move. (Tee Hee) :D

My 3rd Budgie would cling to my finger when I first brought her home from the store. I couldn't believe how calm and quiet she was. But then when she finally became comfortable with her surroundings, she was a totally different Budgie. So much for clinging to my finger . . . Now she runs away from me. :(

My suggestion would be to take things slow. Taming your Budgie doesn't happen overnight, and every Budgie needs time to adjust to the new sounds and movements around him. Once they feel settled, they'll probably tame quicklly, but you need to spend lots of time with Tootsie so that she will gain her trust in you.

I will be anxious to hear how things are going. I wish you the best!

Skyla and Joley was really scared at first, but Skyla after a few days was so tame and she still is, my new budgie Willow is already finger tame and I have only had him 4 days, he isn't scared at all he jumps on my hand without me forcing him etc xxxx

yeay ! ok ... so the update is that she's been good today... eating off my hand and sitting on my boyfriends shoulder .. (im not gonna elaborate on how she's much more comfy with my bf ) and she even climbed onto my head and left a poop there (thank god it doesnt smell). however ... how aware should i be of their poop? birds do it a lot and i just wanna be cautious about how hygenic i should be... u know ... should i wash it off instantly? or could i just get a tissue and wipe it off? hahaha ...

She sounds like she has been progressing a lot in only 2 days, nice job! Budgie poop is something your going to have to deal with a lot, it's not harmful or anything, I just take a tissue and wipe it off. Compaired to larger parrots poop, budgie poop is nothing. :p
