When I take Doodles out for play/tame time, he hops off my finger, runs over the carpet and climbs up the dresser draw handles and into his cage. I took him downstairs, so he could be consentrating on me, but instead he lept of my hand, up the stairs and up the dresser to his cage. :S

I know he isn't scared of me or his surroundings, its just a bit frustrating !

Something is scaring him when he's out of the cage. He feels secure inside the cage. You will have to be patient and find out what it is. When my wife approaches
jojo sometimes she won't go near her. We thought she just was cranky that day.
After paying attention we found out jojo doesn't like certain colors of my wife cloths. She hate busy colors and stripes, won't go near use. So be patient and try to figure it out.

My new bird does this as well. I don't know what to do eather I just try to stop herbefore she get to the cage then I bring her back. I have also been keeping milet by me when I have her out so she is more intised to stay out but that doesn't work eather.

A lot of birds don't like the color black. Also you can try staying in the same room but put the cage in a closet so he can't get back to it. Keep your training succession short. Lots of luck.

maybe he's intimidated by you or maybe he just feels like nothing can get him wen hes in his cage try closing the cage right wen you take it out so it cant get back in and see wat it does
