Do You Want More Contests?

I've looked through some posts and it seems there is a demand for more contests. With that said, we will be holding our first contest in a long time in the coming weeks.

Back by popular demand, our first contest will be a caption contest. These contests are always very popular, and we look forward to starting it up again.

Like BOTS, the details still have to be hammered out. Watch out for more details soon!

I like the idea of the caption contest, some are really funny! I think it would be good to keep the Member of the Month (which I'm sure we will). I like contests on here, they are really fun, so yeah more contest would be great:)

I think contests are great.

I really think that the Next Top Model Contest should be made into an official contest of Talk Budgies and rather then be in the chit chat section, have it's one section within the Forum Games area.

Lineolatedparakeet.net has just recently brought the game to their website, and I love how they have a separate forum. It keeps all the threads together and viewable in one place rather then having to search through the chit chat section for the older posts of the game.

I like that idea. I have not yet participated in the Next Top Model contest, since I never know how (I do now) but I think it would be great if it had like it's own subforum like the Member of the Month. It would probably make it easier to navigate.

I'd love to have like seasonal contests like... An easter decorating contest... christmas.. etc.. one for each holiday.. we could decorate a bird's cage or something? :p like the christmas competition we had once..

The problem with the seasonal contests is there hasn't been much participation. We actually have had an Easter Budgie contest that has done fairly well, but we had two Christmas competitions this year and one of them was cage decorating..we got ONE contestant and just a handful for the other which was a photoshop contest. We had decided to run the two at the same time so no one would feel left out in case they are like me and have very little photoshopping skills.

It's disappointing to go through the work to put a contest together that ends up receiving little or no participation or interest. This is why BOTM was retired in the first place.

Contests are always fun and everyone gets excited in the beginning,but as Pippin's Mom stated,the interest seems to fade rather quickly and not enough members participate.
I don't know what could be done to keep people interested.

I took it up with Admin about two weeks ago, but they said 'no' :( Perhaps our new Administrator will be a little more considerate ;)

As far as Top Model getting its own section: I have no problem finding the threads now and I understand how each thread works and how to do the competition (I have been entered and done it). However I think that is has enough of its own threads for it to have it's own section in the forum. Just my own personal opinion, if it counts to sway admin one way or another since other people have only said that the way it is now is confusing.

I had thought of a contest called "Put your budgie in a movie" you either use photoshop or props and set up a scene from a movie using your budgie. I think the "producer" of the contest would say this months movie topic is Pirates of the Caribbean, so all the entries would be any scene from that movie...then you either have judges or a poll to pic the winning scene!

I love this idea!:D This is funny because yesterday I was thinking of challenges for the Linnie Top Model competition and this is one of the things i had come up with, but then started second guessing myself and decided against it. We haven't started the challeng part of the comp yet though so after seeing this i think i'll put it back in.:)
