i think my_budgie_billy might be getting one.. you could ask her...she might know a bit more.
I know that the larger parrots have more difficult nutritional requirements to meet. They need more pellets and they need cooked foods daily - so that would take up loads of time.

ya i have a lot fo time on my hands and i have four other people in my family always holding my birds so ya if i got a parrot i know i would be good for time and stuff and cooking is fun :P
Another thing to consider is their lifespan - if you get one it could well out live you so you need to know there'll be someone who can take it if you can no longer care for him or something like that.

I've always wanted a hyacinth macaw hehe...
until I found out they were the largest, noisiest and most demanding macaw out there.
but I still love looking at them, I think they're absolutely amazing :)
And my dad has always wanted a cockatoo.

Ya parrots live a VERY long time. There was guy out near wher i live and he had an aviary of assorted parrots and he was kinda older... and he died of likea stroke or something and his family took forever finding home for the birds because they were to busy to look after like 10 parrots. i think they donated some to the zoo though.except... likea year later the avian flu broke out.. and had to kill most of the birds at the zoo....and at farms and stuff...
ive always wanted a sun conure and/or a scarlet macaw. I was determined to get one after pongo died.. until i foun out how exspenisve and demandning they are lol... so i i decied im gunna hol doff on the parrots till i retire.
