Your Desktop

A ton of forums have these games and I didn't see one on here so I am making one :) If you do not know how to get a pic of your desktop here is how you do

Step 1) minimize all your windows
Step 2) hit the Print Scrn button that is on your keyboard (mine is top right)
Step 3) Open up paint
Step 4) Hit Ctrl + V
Step 5) Hit file - Save as - then upload to photobucket or your image hosting site
Step 6) Post it on here for us all to enjoy

This is mine, its boring I know XD i have used paint to go over some not needed to give out info like my schools and links but other than that this is my boring desktop, enjoy!! Its a little bit cluttered but not too bad :D

I'm dual booting XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7, so here's a screenshot of each. I don't have a whole lot installed on Windows 7, as it is a beta test system, but I have put in Firefox and Avast since I took this shot.

Me too - Microsoft was very tongue in cheek putting the picture of the betta on the default wallpaper for the beta test release, I think. Quite a few people missed out on the play on words, though. :D I don't know if it will be the default wallpaper for the final release, which is probably close to a year down the road yet.

Ugh, I don't know how you guys can stand Firefox! I absolutely hate it! Love your desktops though:)

The reason why I much prefer Firefox is because of how it can be customized. I have the NoScript extension installed, which helps a lot with those rogue sites that try to put in pop ups and other types of spyware. I also have AdBlock Plus which means I pretty well never see an ad, which makes for much faster browsing. I have IETab for those few sites which are only optimized for Internet Explorer. I have a number of other things built in for convenience, such as being able to access my music player through FoxyTunes without opening up a separate application, and the weather at a glance through ForecastFox. Those are only a few of the things I've added to customize it to what I need.

It also integrates nicely with Thunderbird, which I use as my e-mail client and UseNet reader. I prefer that to Outlook Express, which does not handle RSS feeds without a third party plug in, although I understand they are improving this in newer versions. Again, it comes down to versatility and customization to my uses.

I'm not knocking Chrome - I have tried it and think it is a decent enough lightweight browser designed for the average user who just wants to use it "out of the box" without making modifications. Chrome has borrowed heavily from the source code for Firefox, so a lot of what is "under the hood" in Chrome is very similar to what is in Firefox. While Chrome can be customized to a degree, most of the currently available stuff seems to be themes rather than extensions to enhance privacy and security. Greasemetal would be the one exception to that I've seen so far. I think it is certainly preferable to Internet Explorer, although, to be fair to IE, I haven't played much with the recently released IE8 yet.

i LOVE macs, in fact I have the old model imac right next to my work computer :P

Here's mine which is a desktop for a Playstation game called Little Big Planet. (Ever since my computers at work were set up so we couldn't save files on our desktops, I got used to keeping mine clean so you'll notice the lack of icons. The only thing I have is my built-in Vista weather and calendar.):
