OH MY!! I am so sorry to hear about this! I guess there were no signs that this little one was being picked on? I couldn't imagine what that must have felt like. How old is your little girl? Is she too young to understand what happened?

Sorry to hear about the baby being killed. Do you have a lot of birds together?

yep but only about 17 adults and babies
in quiet a big avairy there is plenty of room for them to move about without flying in to each other

y little girl understands that hings have to die but we wasnt ready for it to happen in such a violent manner they had started to eat at the babies head it was quiet horrific
my little girl is 7 she was ok with it she kept telling my wife but she just kept saying shut up daisy thats enough ( she is dead squeamish about things like that:budgie:

OH my- that is terrible!

Um.. Not to sound odd or anything but what does squeamish mean?

Being squeamish about something means that it really bothers them a lot.

And Martin37, I am really sorry that all of this had to happen. I guess sometimes a parent bird can turn on a baby but it's terrible that your daughter had to be present when you discovered this. It's hard enough for an adult to deal with such a thing, but a child can't emotionally understand, and it's even more tramatic for them.

I hope your other babies will be alright. Let us know how things go. And you might want to keep a close watch on the remaining babies. Do you think they are safe? How old are they? I guess I would remove the babies from the aviary (if they are old enough) and you can care for their needs yourself, until they are large enough to fight for themselves.

I totally agree with Donna....maybe you should remove the babies..God forbid anything should happen to the other little ones.:( So sorry to hear that sweetie, and very sorry your little girl had to witness it so early in life. God bless you both.
