I'm sure a lot of you have friends lists here. Previously, they didn't serve a lot of purpose. Now, you'll have a reason for having friends!

What is this new system? Well, if you use Facebook, you're already very familiar with the concept. If not, I'll explain it:
With this new system, you can see what your TB friends are up to on the forums!
If your friend posts to a thread, creates a new thread, changes their avatar, etc., this will appear in your friend activity feed.
If you want, there is a link with each story to "respond." If the story is about a thread/post, the Respond link will re-direct you to the appropriate thread. If it's a profile change, you will be directed to the member's profile. If it's a PM, you'll be directed to your PM inbox.
To answer your questions:
This is what the testing was all about over the past couple days. Since this system captures the information you submit to the forums, it's running at all parts of the website. I was posting to see if I'd get an error.
The PM problems were also related to this.
Now for some important disclaimers:
This is a beta version of the system. That means it's not fully finished. If you notice any errors, please let me know right away. I, as well as the other admins using this system, are in direct contact with the developer. The sooner you report any errors to me, the sooner they'll be fixed. (Which is why any errors you received yesterday were corrected so quickly.)
In addition, the looks of the system aren't complete. Since it's in development, the templates aren't quite finished. So it's not exactly pretty right now, but that will change as time moves on.
We were granted access to this pre-release because of our size. Right now, this product is only open to large forums. We were fortunate enough to be included. So I'd like to once again thank everyone for helping us get to this point.
Why am I doing this now instead of waiting for a stable release? Well there are a few reasons.
First, I thought you'd all enjoy this new feature and I wanted to get it to you right away.
Second, when it's eventually released to the public, we can say we all helped (indirectly) in its creation.
And finally, I know you guys are all very creative. So if you have any ideas, please let me know and I'll pass your ideas along to the developer.
I think that should cover everything. If you have any questions or comments, let me know.
Be sure to report any errors you come across, and let me know of any suggestions you have for the system.
