My two budgies hardly ever display interest in the toys they have in their cage. They've never tried out their swings or hanging rings. Every once in a while one of the birds will try to take their food dish off its hooks or kinda poke the hanging rings with their beak as their going by. But thats as far as it goes.
The budgies I've had previously always seemed interested in toys I gave them, but my current budgies don't seem to care.
Any recommendations of toys that are fun for budgies?
:budgie:
Well Blinkie will play with anything that has a bell on it. :P So his favourite toys are jingly lattice balls, rings with a bell at the bottom, swing with a bell, etc.

pegasus plays with bells too. and anything with a mirror or bright colors...
Vegas loves mirrors. Kansas isn't a very playful bird though.

Well, unfortunately, it would seem that not all budgies are all that interested in toys. My budgie Kiwi for example tends not to play with anything we put in his cage. He only becomes interested in a toy when he sees his feathered friends Skyla and Aries playing with something. Then he'll usually join in.
However, that isn't to say that YOU shouldn't provide stimulating toys for your budgies. My budgies seem to really like the Insight line of budgie toys and anything made by Planet Pleasures. (I usually order them online or get them from my local Pet Smart).
Also, busybeaks.com has some awesome toys for birds of all sizes. I have ordered many things from there (just be sure to take a close look at the sizes of all the toys as many of them would be too large for a budgie). My budgies love the "munch balls" you can get from that place as well as the "kokocorn krunchers", "balsa bites" and "starlettes".

Thanks for the advice! :) Those toys look pretty interesting! I've gotta try some other toys out to see what they like. They have some toys that have bells, but they don't pay attention to those.
One of my budgies was quite entertained when she realized she could dump out one of the smaller seed dishes they have. She'll play with the seed dish until it falls to the bottom of the cage. I guess thats her little game she made herself!
Its kinda like how when you give a kid a present and it comes in a big box, the kid plays with the box instead of the present. My bird would rather play with her food dishes instead of her toys ;)
Oh my! They look fun!
I agree. My budgies don't have anything quite that exciting. :P

No, the toys are not overly expensive. I tend not to want to pay too much for them, especially since they often just get destroyed by busy little beaks! The toys fall into the price range of about $3.50 to $7.00 CDN for the ones I have shown in the pictures ($3.00 US to $6.00 US or 1.71 pounds to 3.50 pounds). :p
Oh they're quite 'cheep' then!!

Try to get a toy you can put seeds or a treat into since your budgie likes the food bowl so much:cool:

My budgie didn't play with any of his toys for a few weeks but after awhile he started to get really interested in it. Petri also likes to knock off one of his treat dishes but I think he does it to entertain himself sometimes o.O
HE HE, Budgies do such funny things!
