View Full Version : Budgie Squawking at Running Water

Paddy is usually relatively quiet, but when anyone turns on the water faucet, he starts chirping, first really quietly and getting louder and louder, then he starts squawking:eek: Also if anyone is cooking eggs (hmmm) he does the same thing.
Does anyone know why this might be?

most budgies like the sound of water, you wait untill he hears the tennis on telly

In Australia where budgies are wild, there is not much water, so when a budgie finds water in the wilderness, or even heres water, it will screach really loud to let the flock know it found water. Finnigan does that too:)

Don't worry about that, Tikki does that whenever I run the faucet or take a shower. I bring her in with me once in a while so she splash around a bit in the corner of the tub.

All my budgies have loved the sound of running water. I once had one who did a dead on imitation of our washing machine,rinse cycle and all-lol:D

Twyla loves to chirp or squack at the vacuum cleaner, computer noises, water (running), and she does great impressions, she can even make the expression of a squeaky hamster wheel, its my moms favorite noise that she makes :)

Chirping and squawking is normal when water is running or a vaccum.

My linnies goes nuts whenever either are going

Garry sings to my mini vaccum.. one i bought just for the husks they throw all over my floor lol.. and both of them hate the song Poker Face by Lady GaGa... it sends them into a wild flying frezny... its how i get them out of the cage.. lol.. they get so mad at the song that they squawk and fly straight of the cage out of their rage hehe...then they attack my curtains lol..

they also squawk to water like.. when they were with me in the shower the other day.. i swear i nearly went deaf!
