Mentor?

Have you ever had one person who really helped you get started in this wonderful hobby. I'll never forget a lady named Mrs. Hatchett, in El Paso, Texas, who raised the most beautiful budgies I've ever seen. I first visited her place when I was 18 years old. She realized my interest and, in order to encourage me, sold me six absolutely beautiful birds for only $10.00 each and a three part breeding cage and boxes for another $10.00. Not to mention all the great advise she gave me for free..... Thanks to her, I got hooked on this most fascinating hobby....and that was 49 years ago! I've never forgotten Mrs. Hatchett.

Well, my Auntie has 2 budgies and I wanted some too, so I got Dusty and Misty my first budgies, since then I've been hooked!

Nobody really was my mentor when it came to budgies.
I have always loved birds and I have always wanted one as a pet ever since i was... hmmm..... like 3.

I pretty much tricked my mother into allowing me to get bobby.
And a little wining got me blue :D

Our original two budgies were at first my sister's. So that how we got into them. I'm not exactly sure why we got them in the first place. I think we just went to the bird store one day, and we fell in love with two of them. A few days later we'd end up buying them.

My brother got my mom and I hooked on the little fellows! Once day he brought home a sweet little budgie (named Apollo), and we just fell in love with him. Considering I had never had any pets while I was growing up, this was a real surprise. We thought my dad would flip out, but he didn't. In fact, he grew to love Apollo too. So thanks to my brother, I now have the ultimate passion for budgies. :D
