My budgies seem to be constantly itching themselves lately. at first i thought it was just their routinely cleanliness where they clean themselves. but now they seem to be doing it more often. and they puff up their feathers alot more too.. however, other than that they seem alot happier lately. infact they've been much nicer to each other and very playful since i got them new toys. and they're even more used to me being around them too and aren't as afraid of me anymore!
im not sure if i should be worried about them itching themselves? please let me know what you think about this.. i could really use some expert advice right about now [:

Hi and welcome to TB Just a question you say they are scratching a lot more lately. Are they going through the malt. That might have something to with that When birds go through the malt they produce pin feathers and they can be very painful as well inching a lot.

your budgies might be moulting..:D
like what they said..:D giving them a bath will help them about the scratching, as it refreshes the skin..:D

Sounds like they might be molting :XD: spray them lightly with some water to help them:)

They're probably molting; mine are leaving feathers everywhere! Set out for them a shallow dish (I use a glass pie dish) filled with about 1/2" room temperature water. Float a few leaves of romaine lettuce to encourage bathing (many budgies like to bathe in wet greens). Oh, and post some pictures of your cuties! :D
