Congratulations. I love to see the little pink peeps. I have to remind myself who these two are so I can start hedging bets on what the babies will look like. Can you post their pic?

I guess I'm just not in agreement with giving up birds, only to turn around and breed more, what a month later?... to me its just irresponsible bird ownership. Just my opinion, sorry.
You've given a zillion reason as to why you should not breed, from making no money, to your landlord, to your health.... So since you make NO MONEY on breeding, in fact you've clearly stated you LOST money, why are you doing it? Especially since you gave up your a lot of your previous birds. I just don't get it! I find it pretty disturbing.
http://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=32400
but I'll be honest I never thought I spent as much money as I found out I did today in the last year on my birds - and the sad thing is I know I've spent more then what I figured up , BUT I've only figured up since I started keeping receipts and the sad part is that is NOT a full years worth of receipts
So for all you members who think "oh one more bird won't hurt anything" I'm here to tell you YES IT WILL
MOST of you know May 2007 I started with ONE BIRD in as little as probably 7 months I was up to 65 Birds !!
and I'll be honest It isn't MY money that buys them or feeds them I am lucky enough to have a sweet(at times) boy friend Who does that all for me , I'm not saying he has bought every single thing, because Yes Some of it I have bought on my own BUT the vast majority of it came out of his pocket.
Now for those who think "well I'll just breed and sell the babies to make my money back" (THIS WAS MY BOYFRIENDS EXACT THOUGHTS) - I'm here to tell you DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Because that my friends is the biggest JOKE I've heard in a long time
NO i was not in it for the money! before any one starts that line
I just want all the members OLD and New who think One more bird Won't do any harm - To stop and smell the roses you will be loosing more then you make
When you hear/ read "breeding isn't a way to make money" Do not disregard that because I'm here to tell you it is 100% true
What I am about to say next I've only told 3 members, and I was NOT going to tell anyone else But I'm a honest person, and don't believe in hiding behind anything including a computer screen!
I am getting rid of A LOT of my birds - It started when the property manager started hitting me up for a pet deposit -NO that isn't the reason I'm getting rid of some, BUT it opened my eyes
I realized I have way too many, NOW in this house I cant let them ALL out like I did before, EVEN know I have the walls protected with thick heavy duty plastic, and the floors are covered with GOOD (expensive in other words) Shower board (it better be good at $18 dollars a sheet) and Good Thick Plastic runners going off of those
I have health problems - And I'm not getting any better (or any younger) Even know these stupid doctors keep saying " oh we will get you better" its been well over 4 years and I'm not getting better, I get worse, then stay the same then get worse, then stay the same I do NOT see getting better any time in my near future Having all these birds to clean up after (13 cages) on my own is too much on me! When I started getting my birds I'd been the same health wise for 2 years - figured I'd stay that way, But I didn't I spend ALL my free time (aside from cooking, doing dishes, washing clothes, normal house cleaning, and being with my kids) Cleaning up after birds I don't get to spend time with them any more Like i did at my other houses. So its time to cut back and only keep a couple pairs, Breed them One or 2 at a time and no more until the babies are sold.
I started out only wanting 1 bird! and before I knew it I had 65 birds and it wasn't even a year later!

I agree with Buuzbee.
On your other thread you said you are "changing stock" [in reference to getting rid of a bunch of birds then breeding more]...aren't these your pets? They are in your home, being cared for as pets. I find it disturbing that you refer to your pets as "stock" and switch it around, I really do.
I too would like to know why you are breeding. You aren't making money. There seems to be no point to it that I can see, other than taking away homes from birds on death row in shelters, and shortening your birds' lifespans. You've said all the reasons why you shouldn't be breeding, I can't really understand why you are.

I don't think that ATV ever hid the fact that she was a breeder. We have a few breeders on the forum. When you breed animals you certainly would not want them to breed with siblings and that is part of why she downsized in addition to having less pairs. She does not plan on having to give up any of her adults again. She honestly admitted it had gotton out of hand. Since downsizing, she is only breeding for demand. She currently has customers and waiting lists prior to breeding her pets.
Unfortunatly not everyone goes to shelters for birds and sometimes there isn't any to adopt. I know here we have a few bird rescues and the occasional birds at the shelter which leaves the rest of us to go to stores or breeders. Quite frankly the ones at the stores likely come from birdie mills. Atv cares for her birds, cleans them daily, feeds them properly and takes them to the vet. I would have much rather gotton my birds from her then finding out one of the ones I got came from a store I ended up reporting.

I've never said about her care for her birds...
I cant see someone rehoming birds only to breed more... all in the same breath as "running a bird rescue"

Whats the point of breeding more when she's already said she makes no money on it? Why not focus on rescuing more birds? Are you licensed as a rescue?
I think its wrong to give away birds you already have just to breed more. That just makes them disposable. And getting birds off craigslist only to adopt them out for $... need i say more.

Sorry I'm not a butt kisser like most, nor will i ever be. I don't want to be in your little "gang of butt kissers"
Not sure what "gang of butt kissers" you are reffering to considering I'm always in trouble for pointing things out and not always going with the flow. Its easy to post "how how cute, more babies" but speaking up when I feel something is deffinatly wrong isn't exactly butt kissing now is it?
just DROP IT!
When you open yourself up on the web with information about yourself and your bird care, you are opening yourself up to good & bad replies. You posted you wont hide behind your computer screen, so you can't say drop it and get upset when you don't get sugar coated replies.
