I was wondering what kind of human foods is it ok to feed parakeets and other small birds. I mostly give Sadie Sue carrots, apple slices, and pieces of whole wheat bread. He is always very interested in yogart when I'm eating it.... but some vets say that dairy foods are bad for birds (thats not what my budgie book says) ?!?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out! :budgie:

The vets are right, budgies should not be eating diary foods =\

You can start trying to give Sadie Sue some chicory, celery, broccoli, egg plant, endive, and spinach. (spinach should be give once in a while, too much will absrob calcium)

Other fruits you can are bananas, pineapple, strawberry, melon, orange and pear

Avoid avocado! it's toxic to our little friends.

Mostly, I think its best to keep them away from the foods we eat except for vegetables and fruits :)
