I got home from work earlier and walked in and greeted them & just sat down at the computer and since their cage is right beside the computer I talked to them some.
Well, I have some carrots in the Fridge and was wondering if they might try a bite. Well, I reached my hand in the cage and they both didnt mind me petting them. The male seemed to be the friendliest at first but, Now the female seems to be the more outgoing..atleast tonight. I know they can be Temermental...
Well anyways after petting them for a few minutes I shredded a couple pieces of carrots in very fine peices and first offered a piece in my hand to the male and he wasnt to interested but, with a little bit of persuasion he took himself a bite and seemed to enjoy. I then reached up at the Female with the shredded carrot and offered her some and i rubbed a little tiny bit on her beak and she then took a little snip of it lol..When I pulled it away she kept turning her head to the side...Like hey bring that back lol..She definately enjoyed it!! :D
Anyways Im really happy with how things are going. Im still waiting on their pellets, Avicakes & Nutriberries to come in and they seem to not like millet at all, They have no interest in it. I put a small little piece of it in their food bowl for a little treat but, I doubt it will get eaten at all.
Anyways I am just excited that Im making decent progress already and hope to continue it. Its only day 2...I try not to bother them to much during the day but, mainly talking to them! My dad also sits with them and some how gets them to Cheep some...They like to hear him whistle, Sing, and Play the Guitar..lol..(He sings/plays for church and is a Bluegrass singer to) They definately enjoy listening to him...

Thanks!
& Thats Funny because Im guessing my Birds hate it...and love their carrots!
I put a little snip of Millet in their bowl hoping they might start liking it lol cause that is used a lot as a training aid but, when I got up this morning they had just taken it and thrown it onto the cage floor. Ahh Well, lets hope they like Avi-Cakes! :D
I got the female this morning to take some bites of a piece of shredded carrot but, the male was running away lol..VERY Tempermental birds..
Either way Im happy I can reach in and MOST of the time can pet them, Thats a BIG step that I dont have to worry about.

Well done :) My budgies go crazy over millet, funny how yours doesnt heh

My budgies took a little while to get used to veggies but now its a part of their staple diet. I'm still trying everyday to get them to eat their soak mix and sprouted seeds

great news kelly.

i've noticed with the millet, if its old, they wont touch it. sometime i get bags that must have been at the store for a while, they just dont seem as fresh, and the birds wont touch it. i open a different bag, and they go nuts with it.

go figure!
