I have 3 budgies and not one of them will go in the bird bath. So I spray them with a mist on luke warm water. The problem with this method is that it soaks the cage and the wall that is behind the cage as well as the budgie. I really want my budgies to use a bird bath, has anyone got any ideas on how to get them to use one. thanx.
Try putting celery leaves or some other green favourite of your birds in the bath. I hope they soon enjoy a bath!

Budgies are very strange about bathing. I've had some that love water and will do anything to get wet, and I've had some that won't go near it.
Just lightly mist them if you do mist. The main thing to be careful of is to NOT get their perches wet. Also, make sure they are not in any kind of draft once wet.
I'd just leave the bathing dish on the bottom of the cage and, if he finally gets curious enough and realizes what fun it is to play in the water, he'll probably take a bath. When he sees the others bathing, he might decide to do the same. Maybe......................

My Bobby used to hate water. I just kept introducing her to it everyday. I even let her sit on the shower curtain rod when i was showering so she knew that it wouldnt harm her.
I figured she would get used to it sooner or later.
Then today I was going to get in the shower and Bobby came into the bathroom with me. She walked into her bath and started chirping and trying to drink out of it. (she obviously rememberd water in it) So i filled it to her knees and left her over by the bath.
Then I heard her singing really happily and I looked out of my shower.
SHE WAS BATHING!!!
I was so happy. So I guess introduce your tamed budgies to the water a lot. Also, put celery or something in there that they like.
And I would get your arm or somthing wet to show them it is alright to get wet.
I know misting helps for some birds, but it just irritated bobby... so i would mist unless you see that it agravates your birds.
I know I'm repeating someone else but Not ALL budgies like water. In that case, you can buy those things where you spray your budgie once a week and it keeps them fresh.
Goodluck! :)

personally i take mine in the shower with me every second or third day (they sit on a special perch close enogh that they well misted while I wash) and they have a bath available at all times if they want to use it. Which they do often now, but it can take months befor the y trust it enogh... trisket took about 3 or 4 months and then when she finally went to it she spent about 2 months playing a game every day where she would hold on to the fake plant dangling from the from of it and reach in as far as she could without actually touching the water lol in hover out, in hover out.. over and over LOL... but now she LOVES it and uses it on most non shower days :) and keico picked up quicker cause trisket was already using it when i got him... he took about a monthish... dewey i've had for 2 weeks and already hes been in it! so their all individuals :) but i do think that the showers plus having the bath always in the cage makes the difference in the beginnnings.
good luck :)

ok, i was thinking of taking zero + beaky in the shower cos theyve never been in their bath, but im a bit worried about burning them cos i like my showers quite hot + our hot waters a bit unpredictable, do u think i should just go for it anyway?
Test the water first, you don't want roasted budgies!

yeah i wouldnt put them in boiling hot water, but how hot is hot for a budgie?
I've read somewhere that over 28 degrees is too hot.
