INTRODUCTION

First off, I'd like to apologize for being a couple days late with the newsletter. I've been very busy and haven't had the chance to put anything together. Anyway, there are a few things I'd like to say in this month's edition of the newsletter.

NEW STAFF

We had two new staff additions this past month: Donna and Amy. Donna has been added as moderator for the Budgie Talk forum, and Amy is the moderator of the Budgie Pictures forum. I'd like to congratulate them on being selected, and I would also like to thank them for doing a great job thus far. They are great additions to the Talk Budgies staff. Stay tuned for details on the next staff pick(s).

COUNTRY/STATE FLAGS

It's always fun to get to know the members you are talking to on Talk Budgies. Well, this feature can help you do this! When someone selects their country and state in their profile, their respective flags will show up on their posts. You can get yours displayed as well! Simply go to your User CP, Edit Profile, and select your country and state from the lists. If your area isn't listed, let me know and I'll be sure to add it as soon as I can. I hope this feature will help us feel like even more a community.

SOFTWARE UPGRADE

I updated the forum software this past month. While this didn't come with any new features relevant to the members, it did fix security flaws in the software, making our site more secure.

BUDGIE OF THE MONTH NOVEMBER

Be sure to submit your budgie for the BOTM contest this month! The submission form (http://talkbudgies.com/botm.php) is open and waiting for your submission. I've already received a few submissions, so be sure to get yours in so you have a chance to win. Remember that any budgies that won within the past six months cannot be submitted. Also, if you lost previous contests, you are allowed to resubmit the budgie again. Be sure to make your descriptions as long as possible. The more you write (and the neater you write it), the better chance you have of winning.

KARMA SYSTEM UPDATE

The Karma system is becoming more popular these days. Join in the fun and start giving out Karma on the forums. All the rules can be found in this thread (http://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=2) and this thread (http://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=2607). If you have any questions, ask in those threads. Also remember that you receive 100 points for every active referral you make. Note that your points will not be updated immediately. I update points for referrals every few weeks, and if your referral is active at that time, you will receive credit. So make sure that your referrals get posting! If you have any questions, feel free to ask (http://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=27).

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

- Expect another contest this month. Stay tuned for details.
- I'd like to thank everyone for the increased activity around the forums. I've noticed that we've had more members joining, more members posting, and more activity overall. This is very good for the community and will encourage others to join us. As they say, the more the merrier!
- For everyone's convenience, I ask that you do not post in old threads (threads that haven't been posting in for more than a couple days) unless you have something important to add to the conversation. I've noticed that many old threads have been revived lately and I have received complaints. So please, unless you have something significant to the thread, please do not post in old threads. Thank you.
- Donations are always appreciated and accepted. While the site is completely free to use and explore, it is not free to maintain. All money used to pay for the site comes out of my pocket, so any donations are greatly appreciated. Also, all donations will go toward helping build this site. If you are interested in donating, send me a PM!

See you around the forums!
