I recently visited my local library to look for some travel books. While browsing the shelves there, I discovered a real treasure trove of books on cage birds. Especially parakeets.

Another good source of books with information on parakeets (and other birds too) is eBay. Just type "parakeet" in the search box and lots of thing magically appear. Cages, toys, books, dishes, etc. etc. I've seen some very good books there for very low prices. That would be a good way to build up your own library of books with invaluable info for reference.

If you're planning on breeding, I, personally, recommend a great book entitled BUDGERIGAR MATINGS AND COLOUR EXPECTATIONS. It lists all the possible color combinations and expectations of colors of babies based on the colors of the parents.

Ernest H. Hart has written what a lot of folks consider THE bible of Budgies. It is BUDGERIGAR HANDBOOK. It was, and may still be available through TFH publishers. Updated frequently and packed with good information. (I just noticed my copy has a date of 1971 in it. That's when I bought it.)

A good site to visit, for more information, is the American Budgerigar Society web site. http://www.abs1.org/ I've been a member of ABS since 1970. A lot of their information deals with exhibiting birds but they are most helpful when you need specific information too. It is a good organization to join if you're into Budgies.

Wow! I've got 3 books on budgies and Talk Budgies!

I've found eBay a good place to look for things as well! In fact I was going to get a nestbox from there but then I saw one cheaper in the pet store down the road.

That is a lot of good information, Thank you ETAHoffman!
