I have an 8-yr old female and 5-yr old male that have been together for 4 years. Just recently, about 4 months ago, the female layed eggs for the first time. I removed them promptly each time (confusing the poor mother most likely!) About one month lapsed, then she started nesting behavior. For the past two months, however, she hasn't layed any eggs but continues with rather strange and frequent running backwards on the bottom of the cage. For a while she seemed pretty frantic. Now she just runs for a while, then lies in the old nesting area with her head resting on the floor. This has been going on for almost two months. She seems healthy in all other respects, eating and playing with her partner (not to mention mating). I am tempted to believe this is eggbound behavior, but since she seems so healthy and has been doing it for so long, I'm wondering if it has just become a habit of a frustrated older female! Any thoughts? Anybody see something similar? I don't see any similar threads or similar behaviors anywhere.

I've never seen it or heard of it, and Never seen it on any site to do with egg binding

Normally a egg bound hen sits on the cage floor doesn't move much and it almost looks like they're constipated it will look like they are trying to make their self poop but nothing happens , along with that another sign is a lump near the vent, Like they get when they're ready to lay an egg(or have a big poop from laying eggs/getting ready to lay)

But when ever in doubt the best thing to do is take her in to an Avian vet. it may be nothing at all, But at least then your mind can be at ease, and you'll know you just have one weird bird on your hands :D
