Does anyone have any suggestions on where you can find a good website or some info on building an outdoor avairy. Or does anyone have some experience they could share with me, or tips. Thanks

If you have an idea of how big you want it, I can draw up a plan with a list of suggested materials for you.

Awesome website on the outdoors aviary for the Java finches. There are many list of what plants not to have around your birds. Is there a list of what you can put around your budgies that aren't toxic to them?:budgie: :budgie:

i would think that plants that are toxic are toxic to most birds but how about just using branches? iv had budgies dig out the centre and nest in them

Lots to do at work these days not much time to play on the boards.....
Building an aviary is as limited as your imagination.
For me I started with a portable mettle Morgan Building. I added electricity to it. I insulated it, and covered the wooden panels with melinine (sp?) You will find this in the shower area of Home Depot it’s the paneling they put behind a bathtub/shower. It’s usually white or white speckled. This will allow you to wash the walls.
As one walks into my aviary I have 5 flight pens on the left side that open to outdoor fight runs as well. I used frosted bathroom windows as the openings to the fights. I have a simple pulley system where I can stand in front of each flight to open/close the windows without having to enter the area. The white PVC piping on the outdoor flights is a misting system I hook up to the garden hose in the summer. The birds LOVE it and it keeps it a bit cooler in the summer.
The right wall is my breeding wall where I hang my breeding cages. I have a counter top space along the wall with the door.
My flight pens are constructed using ½" x 1" welded wire. To build the frame work for my outdoor flights I used electrical conduit. The corners are tent frame corners, but I had to have those special made so they didn’t curve up in an angle. I used PVC pipe to frame the doors between each flight pen on the outside.
The front porch I had professionally constructed. It is covered in ½" x 1" welded wire. This has stopped many an escapee including a $1,200 pr of Jardine parrots!
The ONLY thing I wish I had done differently would be to have sealed the wooden floor before I started any construction. I have to really keep spilled seed swept up because walking on it wears the wooden floor very quickly.
