...in LOVE with another budgie! I still love my Lelu very much, but my heart was stolen by another cutie at the petstore this weekend and I had to bring him home!

I have my new bird in a seperate cage because I want to make him tame, and I don't think he will get tame if he's in with another budgie. Is that okay? I don't want to stress him out.

I think it's a boy, but I'm not sure. I'll get pictures soon and maybe someone else can take a guess.

He's blue and is younger than Lelu. His stripes are bright black and go all the way down to the cere. And he seems a little easier to handle than Lelu is.

Yay! Budgie love! :budge:

Awww congrats to your new addition :) I knew this might happen to me one day so i bought home two the first time lol

If his stripes are reaching his cere, he might be too young to sex just yet, but we'll give him a try :)

Congrats and the best of luck with him/her hehe :P

Hey Marina,

It looks like the Budgie bug bit BOTH of us this past weekend! :o I too, ended up with another baby Budgie. This makes my 5th since June of this year. I can't help it if I'm WEAK . . .:S

Right now my 4th and 5th Budgies are in quarantine. It will be a riot when I can finally release them to play together.

I have posted photos of my newest baby under the Budgie Photos category. I hope that you will post some photos, too.

And softie, I started out buying my first 2 Budgies at the same time too, but that didn't stop me from wanting a 3rd . . . And 4th . . . And 5th . . . AND, AND, AND . . . :D

I nearly did too, but I cant get anymore because I have 3 already in seperate cages and I wish I could have them all together in a really large cage but its not going to happen so I have to stop myself and it is really hard :(

Oh man, i am so tempted you know haha but I'm still new to being an budgie owner so for their sake, i think i'll wait and learn my material better before adding to the flock.

I have two males right now and they are just amazing as can be. I am interested in breeding so once i further my knowledge on it, ill possibly bring home a female or two :)

is there a reason why budgies are kept in separate cages or are not introduced to eachother for at least 30 days?

we got a budgie over the summer, a young female, and a month later got another one (male) and they share the one cage, no fighting. he is very much in love with her, its questionable whether or not she shares the same feelings towards him though :o she's tolerant of him...

You need to quarentine any new budgies before placing them with your existing budgies. Quarentine is so if they have any illnesses, they will show up before your put them with your existing birds who may catch it. It's also a great chance to tame them.

If the budgies came from the same flock and were living together all along, then it is not necessary to quarantine THOSE budgies. However, if you are introducing budgies to a budgie or flock of budgies that they have not be in contact with before, quarantining for a minimum of 30 days is necessary as C&C said. This gives most illnesses time to show up and since the newbies would have been in quarantine, they would not infect the existing budgie or flock.

Congrats on your addition! Is they any pictures coming?! :p

Please make sure you do quarantine. It is very important as diseases could be passed onto to other bird :)
