Hey everyone...I have 5 budgies plus 3 babies I'm probably going to sell, but I was wondering what a good flight cage dimension would be for the 5 (or 6 depending on if i keep one)...My dad and I are making a cage together as my "big christmas present" for this year.
Thanks!

As big as you can make it. :D Minimum i would say about 30" long, 24" deep, 30"-40" high...that's me guessing based on the size of my tiel cage which would be good for 3-4 budgies (it's 30" x 18" x 36").

Thanks Bea! I had a fairly nice size idea...It was 30" long, 30" high and 16" deep but I could probably go for about 25" deep instead...
Thanks again!

I can't wait either! =) It should be really cool...I like the long cages rather than the tall ones just because if they fall off the perches (which mine tend to do after bickering with one another, lol) they fall quite a ways...My tall cage is 34" tall...There's lots to grab onto on the way down, but it would still probably hurt...lol...Going to look around on the internet about building cages and stuff...We actually made a pretty big cage for our finches before we got our dog...We'd let them fly around the house and when they were ready or we needed them to back in the cage we'd somehow get them back in...LOL...It was too hilarious watching my mom, my bro and I running around the house with little towels trying to catch them :D :D  :laughing2:

The budgies would still need flying time out of the cage if it were the size i mentioned. If you're plan is to keep them in it all the time they would need something MUCH larger.

Alrighty...Thanks Bea!
I let the budgies run around outside the cage for a little while each day...Their wings are clipped usually so they don't fly...I have a playtoy I made that hangs from the ceiling they love to play on...It's basically a long stick with perches sticking out all over the place...and there's plastic links going up the main "stem" of the toy so they can climb up to the top...It's funny because they'll climb to the very top, and fly off...Then they'll climb up and do it all over again...It's almost like they're practicing flying :D
I usually leave the cage doors open so they'll go back in when they want. Isis is quite smart...When I need them to go back in the cage I say "cage time" and Isis goes back in the cage...while I'm chasing the other birds around everywhere...lol.
Anyway I blabbing on for no reason..sorry if you're still reading this :D
