Yep, took him to the vet this morning, hoping he had a respiratory infection but worrying it could be a tumour. It is a tumour. I didn't think to ask how long he might have, so basically when he reaches the point where he is either no longer eating or having trouble breathing,....I won't make him suffer.

This is Jasper:

I'm so sorry about Jasper, I hope the tumour isn't too agressive and he gets a bit longer to be loved and spoilt by you.

I'm so sorry you got this news Dianne! (((HuGs)))

I'm wondering along with Cliff..what made you think he might have a tumor?

Just a hunch, and the oh wouldn't it be just my luck feeling. He seemed to be puffing up, sitting lower on his perch, quieter. Maybe it is just since Squeeky had a tumour and Budgie has her lump,..and tumours seem to be so common. But, no I couldn't see it and I didn't try to pick him up and feel for one.

Thank you all. I wish I had thought to ask what kind of time frame the vet thought I had with him.

No there is no way to remove it, the operation would most likely kill him if it were attempted, but you know, I think I might prefer that he die during an operation to potentially save his life vs. just waiting and putting him to sleep.

So sorry to hear Jasper's diagnoses. Can anything be done to slow the growth?

Unfortunately, Jasper died Dec 30. Sillie, I actually thought I had responded to you, at least I remember composing a response. Don't know what happened to it though. I will move your post to a new thread so you can get some answers.
