Here is a recipe for bread that I have made for my budgies. It took them a bit to get interested in eating it, but they all eat it now.

Essentially all you need to do is buy one of those corn meal muffin mixes, make it according to the instructions on the box, but add the following ingredients to the mix (in whatever quantity you want):

grated carrots
chopped up freshly cooked broccoli
finely crushed egg shells
fresh (or frozen) corn

Once you have mixed in all of the ingredients, you can pour the mixture into a shallow cake pan and bake it according to the instructions on the muffin mix box. Once it has finished baking, you can let it cool and then cut it into serving portions. (An alternative would be to pour the batter into those mini muffin tins and bake the bread that way; then you wouldn't have to cut the bread into small budgie sized portions.)

You can add whatever other veggies you think your budgie might like. The recipe is certainly not very prescriptive! My budgies love to eat this, particularly when it has had a chance to dry out a bit and harden somewhat.

Also, because you can end up with a fair amount of the bread, I freeze whatever I don't give them right away. :p

Sounds interesting. I'll have to try this out. I hate to say it, but (minus the egg shells) this looks pretty tasty. :P Of course, that would probably be a more appropriate discussion in another thread floating around here... ;)

Well, please let me know if your budgies eat it! It may take them a few exposures to it before they try it. My budgies love it when it has dried out a bit and is crusty (like egg bread). Yum yum! It's almost tempting to try it myself (except that is has egg shells in it; blech!!) :p

Make it without egg shells then!:p
