sally my female tiel may be pregnant because she has got ..... whats the word? plumper! she has really filled out!can you tell me some signs to look for please????


(i no this is ment to be budgie breeding but i need help!!!)

Are her droppings larger than normal? Have you seen her mating?

there are some larger than normal droppings in the cage and i havent seen her mating but i am at school 6 hours a day(not this week my school got a week off)i dont know if they have mated?:S :S :S :S

Birds don't actually get fat when they have an egg. :P Just their vent looks a bit swollen and their droppings get larger.

this may sound stupid but whats a vent?.i dont know what my mum will say cuz she doesnt want her to be pregnant.:S :S :eek: :eek:

I don't know much about cockatiel breeding behavior, but don't they usually only mate if there is a nest box?
Not saying that a guy and a girl who like each other won't do what they do - especially if they live in the same cage... but I just thought they prefer nest boxes.
Did your mum know she had a boy and a girl together? Because I would have kept them seperate if I didn't want babies. Keep us updated on your Sally! :)

hi its late atm where i am and shes fluffed up ready to go to sleep.so i cant see her vent.also cuz i havnt got a nestbox what should i do put sawdust on the floor for when she lays the eggs? (if she does)

I had two cockatiels once and i never saw them breed and there wasn't a nest box but she layed four eggs and they hatched and thats how i got the cockatiel i have now :( sadly the parents died. but yes, i believe they can lay eggs with or without a nest box, mine did twice.
