I am trying to hand tame Odie and Ozzy....
the only way that Ozzy will sit on my finger is if Odie is already on my finger... it's really funny.

Odie will jump onto my finger about 75% of the time. but Ozzy has yet to do it unless Odie is already there.

Each time i put my finger by them I say "step up" and I am hoping that that is the right thing to do.

any other tips?

You seem to be doing everything right! Could I suggest that you give them separate sessions? Then they can both learn how to do it on their own, perhaps when they both get good at stup up, then maybe try them with something else, together!

Good Job Jennifer.

It sounds as though you are doing all of the right things. And you have only had Ozzie and Odie a short time so they are definitely doing well.

I have to laugh at your Budgies because my 2 males do the same thing. One is pretty good about hopping on my finger but the other one usually won't come unless I have seed in the palm of my hand or I've just put his buddy back in the cage. Then he'll come running so he doesn't miss getting tucked into bed too.

Sometimes I put seed in the palm of my hand and hold my Budgie in mid-air and let him eat while I sit and read my e-mail. I might have one Budgie on my hand eating, but then all of a sudden the other one totally surprises me and jumps on "full speed ahead." Let's just say he scares the living daylights out of me.  This has happened a few times and I almost ended up with S C R A M B L E D - B U D G I E S all over the wall. :giggle: My first response to my Budgies when this happens is usually, "Ahhhhhhhhh, DON'T DO THAT!!!!" For some reason, what I say doesn't seem to phase them because when I least expect it, they do it again. Oh what JOY! :D

Yes you deffinetly are doing the right things. Try what Amy said: train the seperately. That's why it is EASIER (not saying it's the only possible way) when you buy them seperately.

Your budgies are just stuck to eachother and it would be hard to fix that!

I would love to hear some updates in the future on how things are going!

how can I give them seperate training sessions? I only have one cage? I dont feel comfortable taking them out of the cage yet.

you take only one out and start training them to step on your finger from outside of the cage. When they start stepping up when you say it once, you can combine them again

ok yeah we need to work on stepping up while outside of cage. Odie was out last night and to get him back in the cage I had to gently wrap my hand around him and carry him back to his home.
