My Noah somehow broke off his beak this morning. The emer vet said to feed him w/a syringe. I'm not sure I can do this properly. Any help appreciated, especially on what foods I can feed him and how do I keep him from getting choked? He's 3.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds awful, how did he do that? I can't help with your question but I would think seeds would be bad since I imagine he can't remove the husks. It is too bad the vet didn't give you more advice than that. I hope some one here has had some experience with this and can help you.

Did you actually see a vet? The beak is an extremely sensitive part of a bird so i imagine that if he broke it he would be in lots of pain right now. You need to get him to an avian vet immediately where they can tell you what to do and help show you how to feed him.

Yes, I did see a vet and I have antibiotics to give him, and I am trying to hold and feed him as I was instructed, but I am unable to get anything into him-he spits it out. He hasn't had anthing to eat or drink.

Oh my gosh! Poor little guy! It sounds like he needs tube feeding which would require him to stay at an avian vet clinic in an incubator.....This sounds very serious and I don't see how you could handle this situation without him being treated regularly by an avian vet....and probably even staying there for monitoring.....

Please let us know how he is doing. :(
