I heard that you can wash your budgies with a spray bottle with luke-warm water and just misting them. DO you take the bird out of the cage to do this or do you just open the door and spray them a bit.
Ozzy has a bit of poo on his rump and I would like to clean it off but am unsure how to do it becuase I just got him Friday and he wont hardly even stand on my hand. He jumps on but jumps right back off again.:S :S :S

Yes you can do that. You can also use a good size leaf of wet lettuce, some birds will do this if they don't like to actually go into a bath. As far as in cage or not, that depends on how much wet stuff you want to clean up after, although if the mist is fine enough and your house fairly dry it will evaporate quickly.

That I don't know. It won't hurt and it might work.

ok I got the poo off of his rear-end.
what I did was I got a bowl of luke-warm water and two paper towels. I reached in and picked up Ozzy with one paper towel and held him and used the other paper towel dipped in the water to gently wipe the poo off....
he's not really happy with me right now... lol:p

Oh no! I hope I didnt ruin any potential bond between us?
The only reason I did what I did is becuase that's what the pet store did to clip his wings....

Don't worry about having grabbed him, expecially if you were using the paper towel to hold him in. My budgie Skyla gets grabbed twice a day for her medication (she's on antibiotics right now) and she is actually becoming quite the "stepper-upper" onto our fingers since we started grabbing her to medicate her. She never used to step up. We grab her with a small cloth and she is fine.
Oh, and if you wish to mist your sweety with a spray bottle, that can work quite well. Just make sure you mist from above and not directly at the face. Using wet lettuce leaves can also work very well. I usually hold up a small shallow budgie bath tub for my budgies in their cages and they'll hop in and out of the tub. Although with Aries, he only likes to bathe if the tub is put on the bottom of his cage (rather than having me hold it). All budgies are different so you can try any of these techniques and see if your little guy responds well to one method or the other better...Good luck!!

Thank you...
I bought a small spray bottle last night at Wal-mart for like $1.00 so I figured later tonight I might mist them with a bit of warm water.
