Lily's wing is vibrating. It's shaking.

There are no misplaced feathers, or other abnormalities.

What could be wrong?

How long has it been doing this?

She started yesterday, and is still doing it today.

My girl bird has done it all her life and its been a year that shes been alive. Your bird just started i see maybe there is a draft or you should take her to the vet

When some budgies are nervous or scared they let thier wings out a little almost like a small heart shape if you look from teh back and thier wings tingle. My female did that for 3 years everytime she was done flying around my room....she died of egg binding though, not this.

She's holding it away from her, one wing.

well usually they do that (when the wing is away from her body) when they are hot or exhuasted. When my birds were running too much they would do it. don't blast a fan but make sure that the room is a little cooler

She hasn't come out for a while, and she isn't hot because it's autumn here.

Yeah it's autumn here too but our house is still hot since we have the heater on sometimes (sometimes it gets so cold it could snow)

Our house isn't all that warm, and we have the central heating on medium, when I had a closer look at her wing, she felt normal temperature.

Budgiekin, what was Skyla doing when she had a tumor?

Don't worry Amy, the wing wouldn't vibrate like that with a tumour. In Skyla's case, she simply held her wing out a little bit from her body and as the tumour got a little bit bigger, she held it out more and more.

I'm not sure why your little budgie would be doing that. Is it constant?

When I first got my first budgie Feathington he used to run into the wall when he was flying around the house. He would hold his wing away from his body and it would "vibrate" like that for a day or two. It was happening so frequently I took him to the vet. My vet said he could have jammed the wing or a feather and it would be painful, but it was not broken and he didn't see anything else wrong. I hope that helps!:(

My Skyla did it once the other day after she had been flying around the room, never seen her do it before or since that one time xx

Yes it is. :(

Hmmmm. This is out of my realm of experience. If it's just one wing, it may be possible that she injured it. My other theory is that she has been doing a lot of flying or wing flapping that is causing her wing to fatigue...but in that case, I would expect both wings to be doing it. The most likely in my opinion is that she injured it. Consider bringing your little sweety to a vet to have her examined.

I will. :) Thank you Budgiekin. :)

I have one, donald, that does this. He has done it ever since they were on antibiotics about 4-5 months ago. I dont have a clue if its related, the vets says no, but its very coincidental if you ask me!
with him its almost uncontrollable, he does it a few times a day, and its not after any excess flying either. I with i knew why they do this! its not like they do when they are hot, and lift their wings of the body, its very different, its just a vibration. very weird!

it might be a neurological condition...I'm not sure about what it may be though.

Did you end up going to the vet Amy? what did he/she say? I hope your sweetie is fine...

I will try to remember to take my camera into the aviary this weekend and get a video of Donald doing it.
it might help others discribe what they are doing a bit more, since its not so easy to!

did you go to the vet amy?

Chip

Just to fill in for Amy, she told me at school yesterday, that she hasn't yet gone to the vet about it yet. she also says that her wing looks slightly deformed and wonky. :O

Amy

Aha, thank you Chip. :)

No I haven't yet seen a vet, but it hasn't got worse. And yes, as Chip said, it looks abnormal. Her wing looks thinner than her other somehow.

Eeek, well, she's still shaking it, but I don't think it's causing pain, at least she can fly now.:)

perhaps the wing shaking could just be a pinched nerve?
