Okay, here's what I want you to do. Just tell me one thing about the site (feature, activities, etc.) you like and/or one thing you don't like and/or something we should add/take away from the site.

You can give me any combination of the above options (like, dislike, add, take away, etc.).

After I get enough feedback, I'm going to use your responses to improve the site. So if there's something you want to tell me about the site or something you want changed, now is your chance to voice your opinion! Don't be afraid to post, there might be other members who think the same way as you!

hmm........

Well I love how nice everyone is..

I don't really like how people can post things from so long ago and it will appear in the new posts section..

This site is perfect other than that!:D

I would like to be able to close a thread if I started it.
I think signatures should be smaller.
An option to overide font colorings in posts to just black. :)

I keep getting logged off the site, is that a change from the update?

I also think that after threads get so old they should be deleted automaticly or something.
and I like how everyone is so nice to everyone, and how helpful and supportive people are.

i also agree that some signatures are too big.. but most are ok i think.

oh and i dont like how some people post pictures that are so big that that they stretch out the thread i think you should have a dimensions limit or something.

sorrey thats it. i know its more than one.

Hi Kelly. Under your "User cp" go to Edit Profile and at the bottom of the page you will see the option of country and state. It is a new feature that Dave has added.

I think the sig limit should be a little larger, doesn't bother me greatly but i generally make my sigs at 400x120 and i can use it on everywhere but here. :P

I just thought of that as it would help even more forum members plus it may attract members when they try finding advice about their other birds from a search engine. ;)

10-23-2006, 02:02 PM
Yeah i agree!

There's another thing I would like also. It would be very easy to just go to a page to view your profile without looking in the members list or going home and seeing who's online. I like to read my profile and see what I need to add and take away

It would be an extra thing that I'd want you to do IF YOU HAD TIME but it would be nice

pal0m1n0

If I understand what you are saying, you just need to go to the user cp link on the top bar. It is right beside the home link.

I added a link to the top of the navigation menu in your User CP, if that helps.

I know but I meant in the top bar
Click on the Quick Links menu link at the top of the page. Second option from the bottom. :)

I love the site, I think the background colour is just fine so that everything is easy to see. I would like to see the route from hatchling to whatever! I am new to the site and am now an egg, but what do these things mean and what comes next? The profile, karma and quik links to gallery etc are very useful. The site is very well set out and very enjoyable. Thanks Dave

Well I haven't said anything because I can't find anything wrong with the site what so ever. I like it just as it is and wouldn't change anything. I will take this time to thank Dave for his time and effort to make a great place for us to hang out. We all appreciate what you have done.

Dave when you get some time I am sure the rest might be interested in how the site came about and what inspired you to make it?

Yer Dave, what made you decide on a budgie forum. Before I visited I would never of dreamt in a million years budgies would be so popular and that you would be able to find lots of budgie forums on the net. You have done a great job Dave. and Budgiekin,Zarrion,Donna and Amy are doing super work too for this forum, and of course us members:p

Hey Dave,

I know I brought this up to you before, but I still think it would be fun to have a list (on the Home Page or somewhere) that actually lists all of the States and Countries (that our members are from so far) and then keep a continual count of how many members are from each area.

Is there a way this can be done so that each time someone registers as a member, the count automatically goes to the correct State or Country and keeps a running tab of how many are from that area?

I do love the flags that you've added as a feature, but I don't think we all realize just how broad our membership is and it would probably be mind boggling for everyone to be able to see our membership broken down into numbers. Canada would probably win, ha! :)

Donna

Maybe moving old threads to an archive may help, as I had replied to a couple not realising that it confuses people.:o

Honestly though, I don't know why it bothers people so much. The newer people to the website may have never seen those posts so they are new to us. We are not sure whether the original poster may have new progress on that post (ie. their budgie was sick... Maybe now the bird is better and they can tell us the update that they never posted) I really don't care for that rule that we have to watch out for old posts and not post to them.

BirdieBabi
11-06-2006, 12:45 PM
Well instead of looking on a specific forum, I just like browsing through the "new posts" section. When I see a new post from, I always look and I get pretty bugged, not at the person who's posting, but that it reappears. I don't think Dave should do anything about it because there's really nothing he can do unless he changes everything, but I don't really like it.

I do like reading the old posts, and I think they're just as good as the new posts, but I don't think that it deserves a place in the "new posts."

Don't worry, all who do, if I never saw in Dave's siggy not to post in old posts, I probably would have done that when I joined. ;)

That was how I looked at it Kisses, I enjoyed reading them because one of them was something that I wanted an answer for and that is why I replied..the other reason was because when I was looking at who was online I saw members reading them and at that time I didnt relise that they where old threads so I would view the thread too and post. But it does annoy people so I wont do it again and I think if they were moved then new people wouldn't post on them and cause other members to be confused and annoyed, So sorry to anyone who doesnt like it.x

Dave
11-06-2006, 02:43 PM
Reading them is fine, but I have received complaints that people get annoyed seeing old posts in the new posts list because someone posted something that could have been posted several months ago, with no real addition to the conversation (like "good job," "congratulations," or something to that extent). If the thread is asking a question and you have a really great answer to the question, then we encourage you to post in the thread! But if the thread is just saying how someone got a new budgie, it's not necessary to post "congratulations". These are just examples, but you should get my idea.

I'm not pointing out anyone in particular, and it's not just this forum. This happens at most forums on the internet, and I know that, as a member, it can get annoying to see old threads revived.

I don't like them but I know it was an accedent. I'm not mad at anyone, including you. You are nice and I know you are being your "nice self" (i couldn't word that) so you shouldn't be saying sorry anyone.

Your doing a great job on here Redgirl!

I wouldn't think that would be a good idea because then we wouldn't beable to see any old posts. Every now and then, If I remember an old post, I'll look for it, and if it's not there, I would be sad:(

pal0m1n0

Closing it doesn't mean the thread disappears. It means that no one can post to it. It won't show up in the new postings that way. :)

Yes, he did that on a few other posts. It is a good idea if they don't want us reposting on old ones.
