So after shopping for a budgie play area I decided I could probably make a custom one for cheaper than buying one. It didn't take very long, I put everything together today.. the hard part was finding the stuff I wanted/needed. The budgies love it!! I hope they keep up interest.
Here are the tools I used:
dowel rods of all sizes
melamine 1'x3' board
nails
screws
non toxic wood glue
dremel tool
twist ties
twine
beeds
cat toys
food coloring
it was pretty easy til the dremel ran out of battery power and I had to manually ***** in the screws..
here are lots of pictures:

That's fab, I wish I had the aptitude to make something like that. Certainly looks like you've got the thumbs up from the flock!

That's fantastic, I bet there's nothing like it in any pet shop. You should patent it.

I also use a twist tie to attach one of my homemade toys to the cage. Budgie like to chew it and nothing bad happened so far.

Very inspiring play gym, congratulations!
How did you attach the eye hook to it? Is it just brutal force?
I have one suggestion for you. My play gym is placed on the top of their cage. Do you think they will enjoy more if it's placed on a high spot instead of on the flor?
Do you leave the cage door open or did you manually place them on the play gym?
