Hamster toy question

I have a hamster named Basil and I want to make him some toys. I was wondering if anyone knew if those coffee containers the folgers ones are safe to put in my hamsters cage? I know they are plastic...but are the unsafe?

thats fine as long as your ham isnt a big chewer. if he is then he could swallow bits of plastic, which could be deadly.

Russel, one of my hamsters, uses a plastic folger's coffee can as a nest. he doesnt chew anything except newspaper and sometimes cardboard so its ok for him :)
