Trash will be fine, along with other waste.

She will probibly lay others. Keep an eye on the pair to see if the male is going into the box. Some times the hen will perfer to stay in the nest (Box Bound). The male then ha to go into the nest box to mate. This is when accidents occur.
If this is the case. You can add a deep layer of wood shavings to custion the eggs or take the nest box away each morning for about 1/2 hour to let the male mate in the cage.
Don't forget to put the nest box back in.

There are many reasons why she could have done that
Sometimes (which I think this is your situation) is because The mother doesn't think it's worth taking care of (or just because she knows it was not fertal)
hi.can i ask is this her first time breeding.i have had hens that have litteraly sat on the eggs to hard.as apollo said sawdust/wood shavings will help cushion the egg and she should lay more also vitamin blocks and greens/egg food if provided will help harden the egg shells

hi again
i read somewhere that you dont need to put wood shavings in as the concave will protect the eggs do you know if this is right?
she has a iodine block is this the same as a vitimin block?
what sort of greens dose she need? what greens do budgies like? fruit or veg?
thanks for the advice keep it coming
hi.the concave just stops the egg from rolling the sawdust acts as a cushion it also helps to bring a budgie into breeding mode.greens such as apple, lettuce and even dandilion leaves are good.with apple remove the seed as this contains a small amount of arsnic.

Sarah One thing that the hen needs is calcium for the shell. Do you have a cuttlebone or calcium blocks for her. You can get a water additive Calcivet (http://www.vetafarm.com.au/show_product.asp?category_id=25&item_number=0021) that you should be able to get from a pet store.
