From the last few weeks of reading some of the posts in this section, I have an idea that there are not many true breeders here.. Am I right?

I can help but most of the talk here is way off the track on Budgerigar breeding. I don't want to offend, just help.

I have breed over 60 chicks this season and a few that will be on the Show Bench next year. I don't call my self an expert but I do have experience.

Apollo,

I know that there are a couple of people on this forum that breed their Budgies for show or sell, but most of the ones you read about here are just everyday people who attempt to breed for the sake of having a clutch of their own. (For pleasure.)

We do appreciate your willingness to help though, and will always welcome more answers and tips that will benefit our Budgie-friends.

Thank You Donna.

Budgies are one of the easiest birds to breed. You can put two togeather in a shoe box will will have a good chance that they will have eggs and chicks.... But what happens when it all goes wrong. You have to take responcibilities of the putcomes when you breed.

I am happy to help where I can for those that have things "go wrong"

Apollo, I completely agree with you. It's always best to research and get as much information as possible before buying a pet or addressing issues like breeding.

Most of us probably don't even give it a 2nd thought when our Budgies begin to mate. We just think, "Oh goody, I am going to have baby Budgies." And then if something goes wrong, we panic and don't know what to do.

If I hadn't have read on this forum about the dangers of our Budgies quickly bleeding to death (when injured) I could have lost one of my Budgies a few weeks ago. Thankfully I was prepared to know what to do because someone had posted what we are suppose to use, to stop the bleeding. Even then, I was still in a panic.

Thank you for your willingness to help others. It's always nice to hear from the very experienced. :D

i have never breed budgies before. However i am hoping to start breeding in 2008 or so.. since im getting like 5 or 6 in 2007.... along with some teils... but not breeding teils since i still dont know mucha bout them but they are adorable. i personally dont like english budgies myself... i like the normal american version better.... (dont get affended if you have any english budgies im sure there great)

but ya i havent really thaught that far ahead as for what im going to do with the baby budgies... i eman i can definitly afford them if i keep them but im probably going maybe give a atleast 1 or 2 away to my freinds. i promised one of my best freinds id give her a budgie from clutch.

That's really great that you're thinking so far ahead, gives you loads of time to prepare and find healthy, unrelated budgies to breed from.
