Skye's first little one hatched a little while ago! I never realized how small they actually were! I'll get some pics tomorrow as I am tired and have to go to bed...lol.
His nickname is little Jake :) Because I was watching Jericho when he hatched. It hatched almost a day early..lol

Yes it it quite amazing :)
The whole nestbox is plastic...I'd rather use plastic than wood because it's easier to clean...I cleaned it today, because the 2nd little one is due today so I wanted it squeaky clean =) Although I decided to work AROUND the baby and eggs because I was too nervous to hold him and transfer him some where else for a bit..lol. I put the 2nd egg up to my ear today and heard squeaking so it could be anytime...it was cute because i could hear him tapping around and scratching at the shell :P

Where did you get a plastic nest box? I would prefer one of those as well.
Your two babies look a lot closer in size than my two are. Hmm. I think I had a third fertilized egg but something happened as the chick was developing. The egg is long overdue for hatching but if I pick it up I can feel/hear something fall around in it.

I got my plastic nestboxes at our local pet store...It's called Petland but I'm sure they'd sell them in most bigger petstores. I got both of mine for $20.00 each.
The nestbox i use is in the top right corner of the pictures...unfortunately they don't show any bigger pics but I really recommend them...

Thank you and you're welcome! ;) I only get nervous when they scramble out of the nestbox to get food...I just get nervous of them trampling the little ones...Skye is such a devoted mom so far...She's amazingly protective of her little ones and everytime they need food she's there...It was so cute last night because I was laying in bed reading and her cage is at the end of my bed, and all of a sudden she was standing right at the clear plastic part of the nestbox looking at me, almost like she was trying to get my attention and tell me something...So I went and sat at the end of the bed looking at the babies, then she went out of the nest and got some food...It's almost like she was saying, OK, you are now official babysitter...LOL...It was just neat that she would only leave the nestbox when I was watching her little ones =):D
I'm not sure what I'll get, but the dad is a yellowface type two and mom is a normal cobalt...We'll probably get some yf's andmaybe normals? not sure...Can anyone help me out? ;)

awww so cute congratz on your new baby budgie. :D sorrey im not great with colours and mutations but so i dunno what they'll end up like but sometimes you can find genetic calculater on the internet for budgies. where you just look the he and cocks colour and it will give an idea of what they'll be like. sorrey i cant remember thew ebsite it was at but i found it on google.

Ok...final update...I just checked eggs #3, there is no chirping and it's not even fully formed...It's not moving either so I don't think it made it...It was due sometime today, but at least I have two little ones <3 Egg #4 wasn't fertile from the start so...Should I take the eggs out or will she do that herself?

I decided to have a little 'quality time' with the babies today...I took each of them our one by one and cuddled with them a bit...Sunny and Jake both have their eyes open but little Ayla doesn't yet...Sunny and Jake were both looking up at me and then their heads would flop down because they can't lift them well yet...Jake is now officially 1 week and 1 day old =) so adorable! here are some updated pics! Sorry the bottom of the nestbox looks so nasty! lol...I took most of the pine shavings out before I took the pics so you could see the babies better :P I cleaned it totally when I got home from school today :)

Yeah it's so adorable...It's funny when my brother and I wrestle and he manages to pin me down on the ground and I feel like I'm gasping for air...I'm kinda surprised it's not like that with them either...Especially when Jake is bigger, Ayla is always huddled up underneath him :)

Jake turned two weeks old on wednesday, willow turned two weeks old today and Ayla is turning two weeks on sunday...She doesn't seem to be getting her feathers in as fast as the others did...a runt maybe?

Yes the runts ussually grow alot slower and are smaller (of course) its becuase they ussually dont get that much food, its just like a 3 year old is bigger than a 1 year old...its like that a few days in a budgies life is a big difference as you can see they GROW FAST:D

Oh I know how you feel about your friend...None of my friends are interested and whenever I sit and talk about budgies to them they'll interrupt and start randomly talking to the guy in front of us at school...It's really quite rude...There's been a few times I wanted to slap her and tell her to pay attention! :P ACtually only one of my friends is interested because we both love birds...she has 3 cockatiels and a budgie...It's really neat...We want to open an avian vet business together as there is no avian vet around for more than an hour...There is a bird sanctuary but it's more for wild birds unfortunately!

Well I have a few new pics but my camera cord decided to break on me so now I possibly have to go buy a new cord! Otherwise I'm hold the two broken wires together while I'm transferring pics...I'll describe Jake for now though...lol...His tail feathers are coming in and they are like Aries' colour, and his chest pinfeathers are a light blue...His face pinfeathers look light yellow so...The others haven't changed much...more of the same pinfeathers and more down for Ayla...lol

There wouldn't be nothing wrong with them having another clutch this year...but if you say so. You can breed them anytime ***as long as they are healthy and in condition*** they will breed just dont over work them, 2 clutches per year is enough 3 is max!:)

He's not too fond of animals except Strider our greyhound, but there was definitely a bond between him and Jake...It was rather cute actually! My mom wants Ayla...lol...And Willow is scared of like everything...i tihnk he takes after his dad...Aries is like that too...Scared of hands or anything that comes near him...it's quite aggravating when he freaks out and almost gives himself a heart attack just from me putting fresh seed in their cage! :rolleyes:
