ayz all..

well jst to inform you.. sky is in a bad shape!!.. since i got tweets and a new breeding box for her....but to my suprise SKY was preggie and had laid an egg in the WRONG breeding box.... tweets got angry and attacked.. so shes sees her self as the dominate female.. and poor sky lives in bluey's cage (bluey lives in a cage at my girlfriends house with maxi(green normal budgie)).... her feathers were plucked out from the back of her neck and the side of her face.. shes now blind in one eye cause the soar healed up... *poor sky*... the vet said i have to leave her in a sparate cage and give it about a month she should be fine!...

but in good news.. sky is up and going and alert even though she can only see in one eye... and her daughter bluey is happily getting along with maxi and the rest of the family and more comfortable around us...

Yeah when budgies get hurt you almost feel it's your fault.

When Chico got his foot in the door and it started to bleed, I almost cryed (pretty sure I did!) Because I'm the one who closed the door on Chico and I felt so sorry....

But the vet said that if thay didn't bie after 24 hours, then he will survive and it's been 4-5 days now

I hope she'll be better!

GUESS WAT!!!

sky can see again.. she got the strength to open her eye that i thought was blind... and her feathers around her eyes are starting to grow back.. but the top and the back of her head to her neck.. still has to grow back.. not sure if it does..

if its like dry blood does it grow back?

I would think so.....Is she well enough to take a bath? If so, you can turn on some slow running water and let her bathe in it and it will get rid of the blood. That's what I did with Chico's foot and it's almost fully healed now

That is good news.

This is exactly why you shouldn't colony breed, the hens will and DO fight and it can lead to serious injuries. If you want to breed you should separate the pairs into cages.

Bluey_owner,
when we took Zeeva home from the pet store, she was a favour to the owners of the store. she came in with a spot on the back of her neck with no feathers. she seemed fine adn interacted with the other birds but the store didnt feel she should be sold.
when we came in looking for a mate to replace squeak, they showed us Zeeva. you could still tell where her injury was, but there were fine white feathers starring to grow back. the pet store said that she came in around oct./nov. and we took her home early jan. she settled in nicely with pep, so we kept her.

i dont think there will be a problem with sky's feathers growing back, it just will take some time

good luck,
