I have recently taken to going for walks around the lake with my wife (and puppy :P). All around the lake are huge eucalyptus trees, so i've been taking a couple of choice low lying branches or the odd fallen one, washing them at home and hanging them in the aviary.
The budgies were a bit shy at first, but now they spend hours every day chewing on the leaves, bark and immature gum nuts. They love it! Whats even better is that they get essential nutrients from everything they are chewing, and gum tree oil is a natural health tonic for budgies and an anti bacterial for their stomachs + an anti mite treatment for the aviary.
Can you find the five budgies playing when i took this snapshot??

I love watching them crawl through the leaves, hang upside down, chew everything like it was going out of fashion and work out ways to get un-stuck when they realise their footing isnt as great as they thought it would be before they took that last step :P
