I need something that will help my budgie stop bleeding until it gets to an avian vet...(something to clot it or whatever.) His foot was crashed in between a door and It looks HORRIBLE! It's bleeding and I need it to stop!

Please post fast! I don't want him too loose to much !

(I feel like crying!)

omg when it happened my mind went blank. All i could think aobut was not making it bleed.

He's a little ok now...I can tell it hurts (well it looks like it hurts but...) he won't keep it down for all that long. I forgot to buy extra syptc powder so when I couldn't find it, in mere desperation, I had to post....thanks JPKP i needed a fast post....

unfortunatley babies making him use it a lot so it will hurt a little more...

Oh BirdieBabi, I hope that your little one is OK? I have heard of Styptic stopping bleeding, I think men use it if they cut themselves shaving? Do you have long to wait before you can get to the vet? Please let us know how you get on.

Your welcome. You could also use cornstarch. I would have felt the same way if that happend to mine. But dont worry he should be okay. Just keep an eye on him.

I probably don't have very long to wait. I have to go to a party so I won't beable to get him to one til afterwards.

Yeah I always use Styptic powder because it's really fast...there was none left though.

thank you I also hope he's ok!

The thing that will prbably happen is that he would be left with a mixed up foot when it heals. I don't care though, as long as he's not in pain

I will post pictures after he heals (which would be about week or two) to show in a less graphic form of how his foot was..

Is it ok if I don't touch him for that long? Becasue I would think that it would be better off for him

Yea im not that great with the whole bird bleeding thing so inwopuldnt know what to do since none of my birds have had a cut or anything, but ya i have heard thsoe things work. I would think letting him be for while would be the right thing to do but like is aid i really dont know.

You should get him to a vet as soon as you can. He may need some meds to stop it getting infected.

Has he been to see a vet yet?

Yes.

They didn't do ANYTHING becasue Chico wouldn't keep his foot down. 50$ down the drain right there....I wouldn't blame Chico for keeping his foot up...he's hurt! I'm going to knock down that place!

The only thing they did do was his wings again so he can't fly back...(they were actually already cut:S )

I'm trying to find another close avian vet. Let's hope they actually do something this time.

It's very heartbreaking watching him trying to follow Baby. He's fallen off the perch several times and it takes him a very long time to get to the food.

But I'm very happy that things are improving a lot. Every now and then he'll use his foot and will walk around more offen than yesterday. I'm so happy for him:)

Thats sad...some vets are like doctors (no offense) if your a doctor or know a doctore but they just dont care about thier paitenets they get paid for anything they do...:(

Ok, that wasn't an avian vet you went to - he may or may not have experience with birds but that means nothing. I've heard of "avian" vets trying to make a diagnosis through the cage bars which is ridiculous. Please find another vet, it sounds like Chico is in a fair bit of pain.

You should put a food and water dish on the ground so that he can get to it easier...

Yeah I put everything at his level so it is much easier for him to get it.

Yes bea, he's in very bad pain...

I made an appiontment for tomorrow for a more trustworthy avian vet. I'm not going to leave this time if they don't do anything!
