Hey, today was the first time i have seen 2 of my budgies trying to mate. They tried 3 times but could't quite get it. Will they eventually know how to? I've never seen them do it before and i was woundering why they might have chosen to do it in 38 degree heat rather then a cooler day? She hasn't been into any of the nest boxes yet. Its their first time ever trying to mate. Is she in breeding condition. Thanks

Are you wanting your budgies to mate? If that is the case, I would arm yourself with a lot of information on budgie breeding before you take on this potentially complicated event....

Budgies will eventually learn to mate...it takes some practice...but they should get it if you let them....;)

Yeah, I thought my Oscar was a dud too, but he did eventually figure it out. I have two chicks to prove it. :) It did take a few weeks though, maybe more.

ok so now that she wants to mate does that mean that she has an egg inside her and she wants him to fertalise it? i have plenty of time to be with the budgies incase something goes wrong. I have learnt lots of information about breeding budgies but because it is my first time, along the way i will probably need some help from you expearienced breeders.

What type of diet are they on?

What are the light conditions?

How old are the parents?

Do you have the money?

What does thier setup look like?

Do you have homes lined up for the babies or are you going to keep them?

There are many considerations you have to be aware of... answer these questions first than I could help you with any questions you have:D

their eating seed and veggies

they have 12 hours of light (morning till night)

they are 1year old

i've got money

their in an aviary with 10 other budgies

i will probably keep them but i know someone who would take them.
