My new Budgie

I have a really new budgie:budgie: :budgie:

I need to know how offen we doing everything like washing cage , washing feeders putting wormer and sulphadim.

I do a thorough washing of the cages in the shower with hot hot hot soapy water once every season, but a clean of the bottom tray and perches daily. I also clean poop no matter where it is as soon as I notice it.

As far as wormer and that other thing you mentioned, I don't use either. That would be up to my vet to tell me if that was necessary. I wouldn't want to give them anything they didn't necessarily need.

WELCOME to the forum!!!! Somehow you slipped through the cracks and I missed seeing your first post. So, as the saying goes, "Better Late Than Never."

It would be great if you could post a photo of Chippy for us. What color is he? It sounds as though your taming him is coming along great! Isn't it fun having a Budgie?

In answer to your question about cleaning the cage, etc, I try and totally clean it once a week. I take it all apart and scrub the cage and perches and toys with scalding hot water and dish soap. (And I use an old toothbrush to scrub with.) I make sure I rinse everything really well before reassembling it. I usually scrub the water container every day when I give them their fresh water. And sometimes I scrub the food container at the same time.

I like to use cedear wood chips on the newspaper to freshen the cage and then the metal grate floor is placed on top of that. The birdies even like to grab the wood chips through the grate and play with them, ha!

I am like Budgiekin in that I don't use the wormer or sulphadim, either.

Unlike a lotof other people, I clean my cage everyother day! (only becasue my 2 budgies are the equivlent of 20!) I also change and clean my food/water bowls everyday. I guess that's the price to pay having happy go lucky parakeets!

I'm sure you wouldn't have to clean it as much as me but you never know!

By "clean your cage out" do you mean change the paper, cause i do that every one to two days. Food and water everyday - thorough clean once a fortnight-ish.

Through the day shedule for all my birds:
7:30 a.m CLEAN CAGES
8:00 a.m FEED AND WATER BIRDS
3:00 p.m FEED AND WATER BIRDS AGIAN
6:00 p.m GIVE TREAT FRUIT OR VEGETABLE (this is only every other day)
