Phoenix & Aqua are both English Budgies
Phoenix is a Violet Male and Aqua is a Sky Blue Female (splits if any are unknown right now)

and their egg (technically this is the 3rd egg but she laid the 1st one from a perch or swing and it hit the cage floor and broke, 2nd one was fine I put it in the nest box and moved them to the breeding cage and the next day it was gone)

I too have a pair of English budgies both from separate breeders, both are violet. Miss Buff has just come off eggs, but none of them hatched. (They may have been infertile or cold because they both escaped from their breeding box one day!) I can't wait to see your chicks because I'll have to wait a while before Miss Buff is ready again:budgie::)
Good luck

Phoenix and Aqua are beautiful! any clutch of theirs would turn our just as pretty! is this their first clutch by the way? oh and one more random question, how long did it take them to bond to the point of mating?

Congrats on the egg and good luck to you, Pheonix and Aqua for the months to come ;).
Violet and Barty are now coming to the end of their parenting "journey" and will get a VERY well earned break :).
Congrats on the egg again :D!

Yes as far as I know this is their first time, the person I got them from never said they bred before. as for the bonding every bird is different I have 2 pair that hit it off as soon as they met, one is so in love with his woman I can't pair her with no other male, he goes ballistic and has hurt the other male through the cage bars, If he doesn't hurt the male he sits outside the cage bar screaming his head off at them until I couldn't handle it any more and Removed the male I had in there and put him back with her. then he was his quiet happy self again!
then I have some that took a few months and I have one that bonded right off the bat , do all the loving stuff, preening , feeding each other sitting close etc. But hasn't mated and i had them in a breeding cage for almost 4 months
Congrats on the egg and good luck to you, Pheonix and Aqua for the months to come ;).

Congrats on the egg. I was surprised to see they are English/Show budgies, they dont look like it in the photos. Maybe they are split, making them bigger, but still looking like a regular budgie.

Egg number 2 arrived yesterday (well technically it's egg #4 because the 1st one broke, and the 2nd one disappeared)

Aqua is definably not like the rest of my birds, Who all have sat on their eggs from the time the very 1st one was laid, She goes in and out, but it seems she's out more then she is in. But I know it wasn't "normal" for my others to start sitting on the very 1st egg, So maybe she'll be more of a "normal" bird LOL

Thanks :)
i think i'm immune to it, I don't get all excited at eggs any more But I do when the babies show up
but I have 20+ budgies who have been breeding Since December 07 til Aug 08 , now the American budgies are on a break (some are almost ready for a new season), So it's the English Budgie's Turn but I only have 2 Pairs of them, and my one pair isn't doing much they have made a spot in the nest box, but my female Ariel is too busy hanging up side down off the cage roof all day and night to Give her man Zeus any thing LOL
and I just ordered 25 leg bands for them with 08 Printed on them I do not think I'll be getting 25 English budgie Babies in less then 2 months or so LOL but oh well it was only 9.00 for the bands I'll figure out some way to change the 8 to a 9

Woo Hoo, eggies! Can't wait to see the babies! I know, a little ways off. (sigh)
May I ask where you order leg bands from? At first, I didn't want to use them, but now I do, because the older they get, I can't pick out who's who and what order they were born!

American budgies - The normal pet shop parakeet

Well they ended up with 6 eggs total (if you count the 2 they had before they were set up its 8 total) But all but 2 have gotten broken
not sure if they're going to have babies this time around or not,
she broke one while sitting on them and it stuck to her belly and my daughter came in almost in tears " Aqua has a egg sticking out of her belly, mom"
my daughter is only 11 - then she asked me when i got in the bird room " is that how their eggs come out?" I just said no and she went on her way lol
but at my 1st look i didn't realize it was stuck to her, it really did look like it was coming out of her stomach - But it wasn't and Aqua was none to pleased with us when we took it off, because a few feathers came with it But I tried my best not to pull feathers but they came any way
So that's the update on those 2
my other pair of English who've been set up for almost 3 months haven't done anything not even playing in the nest box
I have 2 Females left that are English - So i guess With Zeus I'll be pulling Ariel and trying one of the other 2 females

Did you candle the other ones? maybe they are feritilzed, well even if these two don't work out, your other englishes are just as beautiful and hopefully it will work out with Zeus and one of the other females once you set them up :)
